OK, not exactly relevant to this site but I got some interesting Capri stuff in.

1983 Mercury Products Fact Book
1983 Product Value Program Sales Action Kit

What I think is cool is the 83 Product fact book has detailed info on the Crimson cat....plus a PICTURE!

What is interesting at first glance is:
No front cat head decal on the front fender and no GOLD WHEELS!

GO here and look for the above mentioned items:

Great stuff. You know, I have never seen a Crimson Cat in person. Did the production versions have gold on the grill too, in addition to the wheels and striping?

They may not be gold but the wheel style is correct for a Crimson Cat. Or maybe it's just hard to see the gold on the page.

Outside of the ascMcLarens, this was my #1 favorite Capri ! The window of opportunity to get one was like 5 months. The window of opportunity to ORDER one to YOUR specs was like 90 days, at best.

I liked it because it combined the bubble-back window WITH the Black Magic. The Black Magic of 1981 & 1982 had the older style hatch. The bubble back that I really like began in September of 1982 but the Black Magic was cancelled in January 1983. I have seen 2 in person in my life.

I fixed a link to the pricing page and a few scans of the Zephyr had gotten mixed up in the comparison pages.

The CC is one of those I kind of like too and had been hoping to get some more info on.

The CC was not as fully contented, nor as upscale as the Blk Magic. CC also cost less, due to its lower content.

Really?

http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Literature/DealerOnly/83_SalesActionKit_01.jpg

The worksheet shows more options available to buy for the CC than the BM.

EDIT: I think I see what Sandy says. If I read the fact book for the BM it came standard with the TRX handling package....you had to buy it for the CC.

BM came with Handling Suspension, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, TRX Wheels in Gold, Color Keyed Rr. Spoiler and Hood Scoop along with a few little other tid bits. The MSRLP of the BM was higher than the CC as well, due to the add'l. content.
