I'm not 100% positive of where I "speak" on this subject, except to say that I have seen several as the one I pictured, above. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say I've seen MORE like that, than they other way, without, but I've seen them BOTH ways!

I can find no literature stating that more than 1 stereo was available in the 84 85 86 Capri 'VERTS ! So, which stereo did asc Use?? I dunno!! I went thru lots of paperwork last night from asc, and nothing on OPTIONS for 84 85 86 Verts, short of Automatic Tranny and/or the '86 Mid Year package with the Foggies & ground effects and head/taillight covers. No mention of anything else. I feel that the wood behind the stereo is oem asc because look at the perfect wood-tone match and in well worn cars, that piece is equally "weathered" and faded to the level of other dash trim pieces, and the grain is identical.
Something I don't know...... Sad

Of all of thw 86 cars in Tom's album with the stock Ford radio, none of them have the woodgrain.

The fact that this car on ebay is so well documented and low mileage and untouched makes me think that there was never a woodgrained panel for that spot if you got the stock Ford radio.

Sorry, Sandy....my brain just doesn't see how you could mount that woodgrain panel with the stock Ford radio.

Also one more thing I like about this car....

He has those squarish Kenwood speaker covers....the ones I think went in my 85 coupe.

That also tells me the sound system was not played with.

Beautiful Car, David! I own 2 - 1990s (Mustangs). They are both brand new. Mileage of 2,037 & 7,237 and a 1986 Coupe (ascMcLaren) with 646 miles. I only lack a 86 'Vert, but have no more $$$ for these, nor garage space. Good Luck & hopefully someone on here will buy it and continue its life of leisure!

I don't recall you, nor remember the Crown Vics. I am sorry, but I get so many many calls, e-mails it's to the point I am forgeting the people from year ago.
There were 25 1984 Coupes and 50 1984 Verts. The Coupes were all the Dark Blue with Orange striping. 35 "verts were bright red, 10 were white & 4 were black & 1 was an ugly bright blue, named Jubbu Blue.
I have located at least 1/2 the 'Verts, but never even 1 Coupe.

JUST AN UPDATE THE 86 IS WITH IT'S NEW OWNER AND WHEN HE PICKED IT UP HE LOVED IT! HOW COULD YOU NOT! PROMICED ME HE WOULD TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER AND SAID IT BROUGHT BACK MANY MEMORYS SAID HE HAD A 86 VERT BEFORE THAT HE SOLD TO HIS BROTHER FOR 2K SOME YEARS AGO AND HIS BROTHER STLL HAS IT. I have recorded a 1989 & a 1990, each with under 6,000 miles selling for $18,000, so I think that was a fair price for both parties involved. What makes it seem like "too little" are the number of junks with 80,000 miles on them selling for $5,000, when they are really worth $2,000.
