A while back there was one or two I think.
Very rare cars. M81s and Enduros. I never keep them straight.

I've been trying to loacte this car for the last few years, no luck yet. My research shows only the one IMSA GT race car was built. It's been rumored that this car is out there and missing the original hood. The orange number 02 M81 Mustang race car was run in IMSA GTX class in 1981 and the same race team ran a two car team in IMSA GTO class during 1982-83 but these two cars were built by Michigan based Protofab. I ended up buying the red 02 car but it took 12 years of nagging the original team owner. The sister 01 car has been found so both cars are together again. _________________ Prev owned a grey 86 ASC McLaren hatchback the Protofab built 82 Mustang #02 Firestone HPR IMSA GTO race car. Now own/race a 66 Mustang with SCCA history from 1967-70 and an 82 Mustang built by Holman-Moody for the IMSA Camel GT race series. |

Hi IMSA GT Mustang,
I see in your profile you are in Connecticut, I live in Fairfield Connecticut. I sure would love to see these cars someday in person, let me know if you ever plan to take them out to show or race so I can get a peak at them.
Thanks |

I have the kit version of an M81,less than 6 kits were made.
They were $2,600 for the fiberglass kit(uninstalled)
It was advertised in Motor Trend in Dec of `80.
My kit was mounted on an`80 Capri that is rust free.
It`s been sitting in my garage since`99 and needs some work.
Thinking about selling it,way too many projects. |

I`ll see what I can do,it`s buried in the garage up against the wall
behind a butt load of M/Cs.
Next day of decent weather I`ll pull some of the bikes out.
5.0 with a T-5,e-brock intake and 4 bbl,custom belly pan,
pacecar hood scoop(wastegate hood wasn`t on it when I got the car). |
