Well I took my car to a fundraiser yesterday. We got two pulls with A/F readings. Mine pulled 246hp/299 ftlbs on the first run with real lean WOT. Second run was a little better after adjusting the extender up to 12.0-1. She pulled 256hp/296tq. running a little too fat at wot. Both pulls were made in 4th gear on a Dynojet.

Over the winter the Gt40 heads will come off to be ported along with explorer intake. Larger fuel pump, TB, cam, and mass air sensor will be installed. Come spring I will take it back for a real tune session and then it will be off to the track to see what she will run in the 1/4 mile.

It was fun to see what I am working with and it gives me a baseline to start at.

Most of the other cars there were imports so everyone was asking the normal, What is it ? How many were made? I've never seen one before.

I only stayed a short while though because of the freakin cold temps. Damn I hate winter!!!!

Very Cool.

I read it @ 4eyed also. Would have thought peak HP should have been closer to 300.

Makes me wonder about my built 302 HP's. which ran 13.6 first and only time down the track this fall.

I seem to be having fuel issues. The car is still running the stock 86 fuel pump, so that will be one of the first changes. I will have to drive it some more this week to burn up the 3/4 tank I have in it Laughing I will also be putting a better coil in.

Hopefully these two item will help.

Once it is packed away from the salt and snow she will be torn apart again and the rest of the work will begin.

I would like to see between 300-350 at the rear wheels with this combo.

Mike

Damn, I wish I had checked everything out before I went up Sat.
I just took a peak at my car tonight. My FP was only set at 38lbs. with the vac disconnected and my extender was set at 14.0-1 for the first pull and I adjusted it to 9.5-1 on the second.

Now I wish they were still doing it, Oh well I will have to take it back up. No wonder my afr was so screwy.

stock cam, TB, intake and untouched gt40's?

nice numbers.
nothing to be dissappointed with.

On the 2nd pull, the numbers are pretty close, I bet.

My car with completely stock engine, JBA headers, x pipe, borla catback, cai, pullies and bumped timing made 234/318. a well running speed density combo for what it was.

looks like you traded the 18tq for hp, compared to my numbers.

I wouldn't expect 300rwhp out of a set of untouched gt40's. After you have them worked, with the additional mods; I bet you'll be right there or close.

Are you running the stock 86' short block?
If so, did you have to notch the pistons to run the GT40's?

lol sandy...

why EGR delete?

EGR is CLOSED at idle and at WOT. so why delete? do you race your car with your foot NOT all the way to the floor?

the EGR is there to help not hurt.

sounds like you have a nice set up. why not the P heads?

keep us posted

Egr gone because it was junk so I just deleted the spacer and all.

When I bought these heads I was told they were P but they ended up being standard gt-40. I will probably shave them down while I have them off to increase the compression. And from what I have read about the P's they are kind of thin for porting.

They are in great shape so I actually got a great deal on these $175.

And don't worry all, the original parts are all safely put away.

i would not port the intake side of a P head but i have had very good luck with the ex side.

i picked up 20 cfm at 16" on the ex side when i ported and flowed my P heads. i had found a good cutaway pic of a p head online. i used that when porting my heads. the ex side has a hump in the casting from the thermactor port that is not in the P head. just grind that smooth and you would be amazed...
