I did a quick write up last night on the stuff I use to clean my door panels. I seem to get questions about what I do to them.

http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Projects/Cleaning/

These are the door panels I got off from ebay for $73 shipped. I'm not sure why they went so low....they were in extremely good shape...not perfect perfect but darn nice and the dew wipes were perfect and they don't have the power window or power locks punched out yet so they can be used for any car.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4527918947&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEAFB%3AIT

I thought they were worth $36.50 each.

Good write up Mike....

I just received my eBay panels on thursday. Took nearly 2 months to get here between the sellers and my own traveling schedules, but well worth the wait:

They cost me a bit more with shipping, but good blue panels are getting hard to find. Since most people want gray or black, the blue stuff gets tossed. Anyway, these were pretty clean right out of the box. I spent a couple of hours cleaning with the MrClean pads (they rock!) and STP Son of a Gun. They now look too good to cut up for the ASC armrests!

I'm not sure about STP but I think its basically the same stuff as amorall and armorall destroys vinyl and plastic over time. The silicone in it sucks the oils right out of the material.

I recommend to only use Meguiars or Mother's stuff.

BTW, those are very nice door panels.

You're right in that anything other than black or grey gets tossed. They could be off a 500 Mile car and still would not get more than $20 pers side.

Mustang Marty (or Sandy or anyone else), do the asc Capri verts have the hatch door panels or the vert door panels with the higher carpet area? I haven't been paying attention.

I have not a clue. My guess would be the stock hatch door panels, since there was no convertible capri from dearborn.

EDIT: Just went & looked at Tom's Fotki Album of like 500 ascMcLaren Pics. They all used the lower carpet, stock Capri Hatchback Door Panel, with & without the Recaros.

My mistake... it wasn't Son of a Gun. I've banned all of that ArmorAll type stuff from my garage! I forget what it is right now, but I will check later.

The guy that put the vinyl top on my old 67 Cougar (back in 91) told me to put nothing on it but lemon scented pledge. I used that stuff on my top and interior and never had a problem....plus the car smelled GREAT!

The next door neighbor to my parents has it and I saw the car last year when I was up in NY and it looked exactly like I left it all those years ago. Perfect original door panels, dashpad, etc. So I figure it probably didn't hurt it any....maybe that guy was right Shrug

I love the Meguiars stuff. It works great and does clean a bit too.
