Damn, you're fast! I just saw it myself and was going to post it, but you beat me to it. While I'm the first person to tell someone it's your car and you can do with it as you please (I catch so much grief from Crazy Horse Performance's Chris Winter's wife every time she sees my teal/black cloth 93 CObra, as the car is now a street legal Solo I car), a McLaren should never have "competition like" seats in it.
BTW, did you see how high the e-brake handle is? _________________ Robert Lyons

Mustang nose on a Capri?
To me, this car signifies living proof that performing

Just look at the interior. It looks like someone who didn't know what they were doing covered every panel with fake leather... The tray is missing the covers the gaping hole around the shifter and e-brake. |

Wow! what a mess, but it still could be saved. Sandy, What color combo was it originally? Was it a 5 speed?
Thanks,

Thanks Sandy! Cars like this one, create temptation. The body parts it needs, are all shared by a standard Capri. Black/Black/Gray would be one of my first choices for a 86, a 5 speed is a must. The big problem is the hack job on the expensive interior parts. I'd hate to see the car get in the wrong hands and well, be destroyed all together.

If you've noticed very very very few people can leave their McLarens alone, and leave them as they were when new. What percent wear aftermarket wheels? 85 - 90% ? I'd say so! Often times the aftermarket ones are no where near as nice as the ones that came on the car. It's almost "Put on different ones, 'ya, I know the originals were nicer, but it's against the law to drive aound with the originals on the car" ~ Stereos? How many still have their OEM Stereo? No, their wearing K-Mart or Krayco or Pep Boys auto center CD/Stereos. How many have you seen missing their taillight covers? They didn't just fall off, 'ya know!!
I mean compare it with say a Pontiac Grand Prix or a Monte Carlo or a 3-series BMW. Those cars can be seen on the road, 8 or 9 years old, still wearing their OEM wheels and all.
So, this here McLaren has had the full treatment of "I can't leave it alone, I MUST do SOMETHING to it today!! This is just the full package of "I NEED to change it" ~
I've actually had people ask me, "I've seen so many McLarens wearing different wheels, WHICH are the original or correct wheels that they came with? _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Sandy,
I actually like the basketweave rims! More so than the 90 style rims, although they're growing on me. I just can't imagine doing a whole color change on a car like that. And I can't imagine the stereo swaps. In a car like that, why even need a radio? Top down cruising on some twisty back roads should be done in quiet so you can hear the world going by. But I'm the guy who took a perfectly good, new off the transporter 93 CObra and went racing with it. Although in my defense, it still looks stock from the outside, and only an expert would be able to pick up the engine compartment mods.
Sandy, the guy from P-burg (Pittsburg, not Phillipsburg unfortunately) is getting real antsy about the 68, to the point of making the 6 hour trip in the rain Saturday. I want to hold him off until the rain stops, which is projected to be next Saturday. Then, it's Henry time! _________________ Robert Lyons

I can see the point of people that state the car is junk, not everyone enjoy's working on cars or has access to the facilities. I look at it like this, provided the car is not rusted out or has extensive unibody damage, I could sell the seats on eBAY for 150.00, sell the wheels for 200.00, maybe get 100.00 for the other junk he stuck on the car, so if I bought it for 1500.00, I really would be into the car for 1050.00. Leaving me about 3000.00 to play with to get the car in presentable condition. Then finding the rare or hard to get parts as they came along. So saving the car would serve 2 purposes, first being saving a rare ASC Mclaren Capri convertible, second providing me with something I enjoy doing!
