Nice write-up Mike!

Gotta get those 86'ers in the mix with that 3rd brake light notch though...lol

Why would I want that, when I have 2 NOS in OEM box, with hardware, in the basement, UP on a tabletop ~ with installation instructions, from A&A Specialities, of Placentia, California ?

I've got a NOS one stored away too. This is more for the regular Capri guys than the asc group. Like I said, if I was somebody with an asc, I would get the read deal. No repro fits like the original...but this one was surprisingly nice.

Wow!

Looks great! I like the fact, it won't get the Mclaren Wing wave!

The wing looks like it would be great for a Capri bubbleback.

Great Job on the reveiw, Mike!

One cool thing that came out of this is that when I pulled the hatch latch mechanism...to retrieve a bolt...it was a POWER latch! In perfect shape! WITH THE WIRING HARNESS attached!

Whoo hoo! Bounce Happy

If it goes to where I think it does, it probably runs up to the driver's side of the dash.

The one mod I think I've decided to do is to add keyless entry in the car. I'll put the solenoids for power locks in the doors and wire the hatch and doors up to a keyless entry module. I won't put in the power lock switches in the door panels or the hatch switch in the glove box. The car will look exactly like it should from the factory with only power windows and a remote fuel door release in the dash.

I installed Ford kit in my 95 Contour a few years ago. The manual covered the Mustang and all the other cars back thru the 80s as well as basic troubleshooting to identify installation type on almost any car. It worked really nicely. I recently bought a newer kit from Ford because the old one was obsolete. The new kit includes an alarm and lots of other options. I believe I got it for the Contour again or this was the replacement for the previous kit. I plan on putting it on the 85 vert. $240

The thing is, I only want a three button system.

Button #1 to unlock doors.
Button #2 to lock doors.
Button #3 to pop the hatch.

I was looking and it seems all the kits out there have a TON of features, alarms, remote start, etc. I don't plan on using any of that other stuff and don't want a 10 button fob. Just something simple.

I do not believe you are forced into a large number of buttons on the fob. I had an alarm system installed on mine that came with 3 buttons on the fob. The alarm system also controls door lock/unlock with the arm & dis-arm feature, panic button and trunk release. The actual system has more features and could be hooked up to start the car, but installer ignored the other features.

I found one from JCW...two button fob for unlocking doors and trunk only.

I may get one and try it out and post how the install goes.

I don't even want panic. Something really really simple.
