http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ctd/2751288075.html

i am in possesion of a one of a kind vehicle....1982 ford asc exp mclaren sitting in a field in new hampshire for many years...vehicles odometer reads 15k miles on her...it is a 4spd manuel transmission.....the first definition on this vehicle is asc, they actually designed and installed the sunroof...[asc inc, formerly american sunroof corp.].....then theirs mclaren engines they actually built this particular vehicle, what they actually did is as follows...they took out the a/c compressor in this vehicle and installed a bendix super charger, they then installed turbo behind the exhaust manifold , they also took of the carburation system off her and installed a OE fuel injection system, beefed up the suspension with stock trx springs and koni shocks all around, the cups above each spring was cut down by 1 inch thus lowering the vehicle...[front and rear]....also the uprights were machined to put 3/4 of one degree negative camber in the front and th rear....[keeping the vehicle going in a striaght line]....they also used raybestos semi metallic brakes and adding a proportioned valve from kelsey hayes for better stopping......mclaren also stiffened up the rack mounts and also revalved the pwr steering pump, they also installed twin fuel pumps hooked up to a seperate reservoir.....bucket seats were built by recaro...[recaro bucket seats are in some of most expensive race cars including mclarens]......the alloy rims are from a european ford escort rs and the tires comes from b.f. goodrich comp t/a radials.... 205/50vr15.....vehicles vin# is as follows 2fabp0120cx105498......vehicles color is halloween orange....ford produced 2 versions of the ford asc exp mclaren..one had a 1.6 litre carburation motor producing 69 hp and the later version was a 1.6 litre fuel injection motor producing 84 hp...this vehicle is said to have been producing 121 hp at 5200 rpm and 137 lb of torque ft. at 2800 rpm,s.....this information is from an article from autoweek dated dec.6,1982..... i did have the pleasure to drive this vehicle many years back it was a ball to drive...interested parties can reach me at 1-781-289-0888...... thanks for looking....

Don't see a turbo, but then again, not sure when the EXP Turbo began.

I'd want a lot of proof before I paid $4000 for a raccoon's house.

Well they did make at least one. It was in Autoweek, Dec 6, 1982. I'm not sure if I have that issue but if prodded I COULD maybe try and dig through what I have.

I think the Ford turbo version was available in 1984. I looked at these cars way back then but they were a little to $$$ for me at the time. Never heard of the asc version until now.

In reading the description, it said it had a supercharger AND a turbo. Is this possible?? Seems redundant.

I owned a 84 Ford EXP Turbo back in 1988. Nice car, but it was on its 3rd turbo at 50,000. The engine has no PVC system, and water would build up in the oil and it would wipe out the bearing. I do remember it was a very fast 1.6 with the first year FI engine. Koni shocks, handling pack, loaded with a sunroof. I have pictures!

It may look ugly 27 years later, but being a single man in my twenties and after owning four Pinto station wagons (in a row), that thing was SUPER COOL !!!! Very Happy

I just talked with the actual owner of that car. He is a big fox body collector with rare low miles cars. I think the car is in good hands for a proper resto.
