I believe the Capri pillar post covers are the standard hatch back covers just cut off. The top is attached with double sided tape. The sun visors are stock hatchback. There may be a change in the bracket 84-85. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

The Capri and Mustang share the same parts. It's just that the Capri is older and is subject to earlier revision parts. All ASC Fox bodies started with the hatch back body. The Mustangs did get some convertible bracing.
Factory convertible parts are very different for the Mustang. ASC Sunvisors and pillar covers were from the hatchback Mustang. The D21 option code provided standard Mustang parts to be installed at the assembly line or shipped with the car, but none of these items were color specific. To the best of my knowledge, no factory interior parts were repainted by ASC.
FYI, I would just paint the interior parts with SEM interior paint. It works well but does show wear on things like the seat belts sleeves. Let the part sit for a month before installing. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

Hi....The visors on my '86 vert, are a carryover from the hatchback. Got another pair off EBAY. Cut them in half long ways, and had them recovered. The reason being , more head room. But to the best of my knowledge, they are the same. |

so the pillars are hatch back, cut to fit, I know the 'brow" interior is unique mclaren also.
the thing is I cant paint mine, some idiot cut a round hole the size of a half dollar in mine, and somewhere along the line the get chipped and broken on the edges. they are just ugly
If you mean I could buy a random color and paint them tan/beige I would say matching the tan would be hard.
I also believe they all stared as black plastic _________________ 88 McLaren, black on tan |

It isn't that hard to paint or "dye" the hard plastic parts. The beige tan in my 85 is a little different than the stock "desert beige" SEM color. So I took a correct color trim piece off (kick panel I think it was) and took it to my local specialty paint dealer. They "shot" it and mixed me up a spray can. Perfect match.
I have tried to paint the soft plastic seat belt sleeves as well but they eventually peel. I finally just replaced them with a black pair. Not to bad looking and definitely not noticed by the untrained eye. I plan on trying again next summer with the possibility of adding some flexible component to the mix.
As for sun visors, mine are flat, vinyl beige color with unlit mirrors. Not in the best of shape. I have tried to get replacements but the color is always off. I did manage to get a cloth covered pair that looks promising, but I like to keep it as original as possible. I have replaced the chrome rods however with some success. A little tricky. Have to bend them a bit to get the right fit. And they can be a little loose inside the visor part. But all in all, not too bad. I'll keep messing with them until I get it right. _________________ 1985 Red ascMcLaren Convertible #218

When I received my 88 the Blue visors were in bad shape so the hunt was on for some new ones. I was able to track a new set of NOS ones. The part had an E5ZZ part number.

Pretty sure the 88 blue visors are a slightly different color than the 85 visors. They would have an E8ZZ or E7ZZ part number....but probably not enough difference to really stand out at all. And NOS visors will always look great.
Then again, I don't think the part number is attached to the visors and I have seen a few NOS pairs of visors sold with the wrong part number.

I just looked at them because they are still in the box. They are the same color Blue vinyl. One was packaged in 1990 and the other in 1993. When I sourced some other parts I discovered the 3rd Brake light was from a Escort and the Door lights were from a Lincoln Town Car.

I'll have to look the visors up in my parts book if I can find where it is. I assume that the visor's came with the car from Ford and were not replaced or something with asc.

I'm pretty sure the 1986 Capri Conv. used 1986 Capri 3rd brake lights. And Maybe some of the ASC Mustangs.
funny thing, I have been taking photos of all the 3rd brake lights I have seen on ASC's at shows. I should see about getting all the photos togther because there seemed to be a couple different styles |

Sorry for the delay,I am out of town. I can get the Light number when I get back. They are from the Lincoln Town Car Door E0 number. I don't know if Hank still has them or not but they were on his site.
The Visor number cam from one of the collision parts book because they would list blue as a default. _________________ Coming soon # 1079 |

Muscat's vision was for a 2 seat convertible. But when ASC started with the Capri rather than the Mustang, and the Capri was available only in a fastback which required much more extensive bodywork to create a convertible, they made ASC Capri Coupes along with convertibles. _________________ Paul
