Will an 87-93 shift boot fit on an 86? Also, can you swap out a 6k tach for a 7k without any problems? So far I have completely torn out the interior of the car and am in the process of cleaning and putting it back togather. I had to by new carpet because a cat took a pee on it sometime back and it smelled really bad. I will post pictures soon for those that are interested. Thanks again for everyone's help

I don't think the shift boot will work. You can buy a nice leather one from 50Resto for $50 that looks close to stock but is real leather instead of that rubber stuff.

Where did you get the carpet? The light grey ACC stuff is known to fade badly. Some people have had problems after 3 months.

The tach needs to match the engine. The 6k tach you have should not even be reading correctly. I bet if you swap in a 7k it will read correctly.

I forget but 1 tach (I think 6k) has a WORKING switch to switch from 4 to 6 to 8 cyl engines. All the other tachs (7k, 8k) have a NON working switch. The 6k if the switch works, may have been set to a v8 engine and swapping in a 7k tach will be ok.

There is a selector switch on the tach for 4, 6 & 8. Just take the cover off (the bezel) and it is just below the the gauge on the front. It's maked 4, 6 & 8 and is set with a small screwdriver. The 7K tachs probably don't have it.

I cannot recommend anyone YET as I have not purchased ANOTHER set of carpet.

8 years ago I bought the ACC carpet and my car had been garaged all that time and it faded badly. Other people have gone through 2 or three batches of the light grey carpet.
