|
|
Hey guys,
New to the forum and the ascMclarens but not to mustangs. Ran up on this one on CL, owner states that it is #44 of the 1984 convertibles but there are a few red flags I wanted to run by y'all. Its definitely rough and needs some TLC. The main thing that I cant figure out is that the VIN states its an 84 unfinished Capri, but the interior and top is black where I thought all the 84's were tan/tan. The seats and wheels aren't stock, and the woodtrim dash has some rough cut aluminum screwed over it X( Im interested in the car either way but I was wondering if y'all had any advice to help determine if its an 84 or an 85/86. I havent got the chance to look at it in person yet.

Best I can tell is he overlayed a sheet of burshed metal anywhere there was woodgrain and went to town with a hand saw haha. Its definitely a fixer-upper but Ive been looking for a new project and these cars have such an interesting story. |

Yeah, she's a bit nasty but most things look like bolt on pieces and could be removed/replaced.
The low production of the 84s would make me think she should at least go $2k...so the guy isn't totally out there on his price.

My guess is that there are probably an extra 100,000 miles more on it than advertised. Looks like someone "freshened it up" a good awhile back, new paint, new wheels, new dash applique, all of which have aged poorly.....
Just one opinion. _________________ Terry M.

That is one ugly car. But to each their own. |
