That thing is deceptively rough, but is gonna be a good deal for somebody.

Holy cow! Went for $1802.77!
That leaves plenty of room to fix the leaky parts and touch up the interior and top! The bottoms of the doors look pretty rough but the rest of the car looks pretty straight! Makes one wonder, though, if it has been sitting outside for 10 years in Florida, I bet there is a lot of rot underneath, too.
I hope the new owner joins us! _________________ Dan

I was just checking out the ad again, and the VIN on the AutoCheck report is: 1MHBP79M4EF620634 and the report says it is a 1984 Capri. The seller has 86 all over the ad.
I hope the new owner figured that out.
The report also shows that the car was registered in PA since 2014. Not a good sign for rust. _________________ Dan

If that is #49 from 1984, that thing has been for sale or sold more times than any car I have ever seen. It comes up at least once or twice per year! The VIN should read "Flipper". _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

The VIN is about right for 1984 as it aligns with other recorded. However, its a different VIN than the #49 recorded in the database. I suspect they got the car number wrong and its not 49. Likely not 1986 either. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

If you look at the ebay pictures, engine etc, it is definately 1986 with the efi. It also has 86 body side molding and dual exhaust.
My conclusion is the second digit of the VIN was typed incorrectly. VIN 600634 would be in line with the early 86 car vins. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

Possibly, but the "E" in EF620634 would also be wrong as that is for 1984; an '86 would be a "G" as in GF620634.

It looks a little odd all around. The RS front bumper cover and that...uh...non stock spoiler makes one think it could have had some modifications. The Mustang LX dual exhaust is an easy add-on, too!! _________________ Dan

Hi all I appreciate any and all information on this mismatched vehicle. I have paid the deposit on this vehicle and I await the title which should be here later today will post it for all to see. I was looking for a convertible that was running so I would be able to enjoy it while I repair it FYI the final price was 1650.00 as I was not the winning bidder. I know that all the asc Mclaren's are scarce with slightly over 2300 originally built. Thank you for having me and look forward to your help with this project. Dean |

Congrats and welcome to the group! You got a steal at $1650! I'm hoping your car just needs a good cleaning and it will look great--that's what it looks like in the pics.
You definitely found the right place for help. I got my '86 on eBay about 2 years ago, took a big gamble, but ended up lucky.
Send Chris an IM, capri50asc - he was a HUGE help when I got mine. He has a list of stuff you should replace and has a lot of experience with 86s.
Is the car going to St Thomas?? _________________ Dan

It will be headed to St. Thomas Ontario Canada. In case some one thinks it is going on vacation,as soon as I arrange the transportation have two quotes thus far 1880 and 1150 plus additional 150 to 250 for customs. Of course I am really waiting to see the title and hoping it will reveal exactly what I have lol |

Thanks Dan no overheating up here lol of course the thermometer gasket will have to be replaced to stop that leak and sounds like brake lines required. Should be fun. I haven't owened a convertible since I sold my 68 Firebird straight 6 in 1989 for $20,000 |
