So, I have a mobile auto electric guy coming over today to figure out what my electrical issue is. When I start the car and immediately put it in gear, it stalls and then won't start. I have to wait at least a day to get it to start again. If I let it warm up for 5 minutes or so, I don't get that problem.

Sounds like a short somewhere. I'll update later.

Dan

Change the Dist Ignition control Module. These break down from the heat off the distributor and if the dielectric grease is not used as a heat barrier , it will fail faster. Also when you shut the car down. The fan and coolant stop moving and the under hood temps, can climb to over 400 degrees, This bakes the module. I open the hood on my two cars to let the heat escape . When this fails it can cause all kind of problems. Stalling, No starts, missing etc (Use Motorcraft only!)

2) Change the Ignition Switch in the steering column (between the key and the dash) Pull the covering off, Two screws and two connectors . Use small vise grips to remove the two screws then replace them with ones from NPD part number is M-11572-1k When these go everything in the car will act up, Stalling on turns, No starts, Cruise control will fail, no lights , radio etc etc etc . The grease inside them drys out, which in turn causes metal to metal contact on the sliding unit. use Motorcraft or Standard . Both Good!

On the ignition parts: ONLY USE FORD/MOTORCRAFT!

Chris-- I took your advice and replaced everything on your list!!

It turned out that the distributor pickup was bad? And, that was the second rebuilt distributor!!
And, Mike, Your're right, Rebuilt twice?? And I replaced the ICM TWICE!!
