When I got my car, the first thing I did was to remove the radar detector because they are illegal in VA. However, thought it would be cool to at least have the under dash part installed since it was a factory option. So, I reinstalled the under dash unit which got me thinking about reinstalling the receiver, but not actually wiring the thing for power.

How was the wire run to the receiver? I don't remember how it was set up, I didn't think that I would ever install it again...

the wire to the receiver is a thick flat wire with two 'sides's, very much like an old Stereo power cable. It appears to be stock to the unit--I did get the user's manual with it!

This is going back on an '86--so I imagine the cable would run along the passenger side to the unit? does anyone have a factory set up so I could see what they zip-tied it to along the way? And, maybe what holes in the firewall and front end they used to route the wire?

Does the power lead actually connect to the cigarette lighter like the manual suggests??
