Hi, I am new to the forum. Did ASC really convert V6 cars? How does one verify a car is authentic. Thanks

To help move the 86 ASC Capris in the spring of 1986 ASC decided on a low cost version to cut the price to $22,000 A well equipment V-8 version was in the neighborhood of $26,000-$28,000 .. They sold only 10 with the 3.8 V-6 engine. less options, lower performance. As of now there is only 3 remaining.I have seen one scrapped out here in the Detroit area at a body shop. It was stripped down with most sheet metal gone. The problem with the 3.8 V-6 engine is head gaskets. They are very common to fail on these engines. The gasket was a design failure

Hope this Helps

Chris

I saw one, once, at Hines Park L-M when new. Seems an odd way to save a few hundred buks on a $23k car.

Sandy's post seems to combine Spring Special info with V6 info when they are actually separate. Owning both a Paris Blue and a Sterling Silver Spring Special, as well as a 3.8SC, some of his info regarding the 3.8SC V6 cars is not 100% correct.

My V6 is red, with gold wheels, leather standard seats, and has the modified door panels and center console.

My Spring Specials, along with all Paris Blue and Sterling Silver Spring Special cars I have seen advertised were V8 cars.
