Can you reclock this alternator? I posted a while back of a similar issue. I could get an alternator from the McPArts store for my mom's '67 Mustang but the holes didn't line up for the connections....
A simple youtube video showed how to unscrew the bolts, crack the two halves apart to allow one half to spin to the new position and then bolt everything back together.
Good luck.

Found a great rebuild shop in Virginia Beach, VA.
Browning's Alternator & Starter Exchange
1736 Independence Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23455
(757) 460-1018
They said they could rebuild my alternator for me. When i went to pick it up I learned that they had to break part of my housing to rebuild it. Fortunately, they had another housing that was identical that they replaced my broken housing with. Unfortunately, when I got it home, it would not fit the bracket in my car. I took it back to the rebuild shop and they confirmed by showing me and measuring the bolt holes, their distance from either other and the size of the housing the new housing was truly identical to the old housing. I was stumped and about to think that I was loosing my mind when I noticed that the old housing has been milled out with a milling machine where the upper bolt connects to the upper part of the mounting bracket. This shop did not have a milling machine but used a grinder to match the milled out area of the original Lestek Alternator. I brought it back home and it installed with no problems whatsoever. I am sharing all this detail incase any of you run into a similar problem and have trouble figuring out why your replacement Lestek alternator will not fit in your 1989 ASC McLaren. An identical housing or even a new or used Lestek alternator will not fit unless it is ground or milled in a similar fashion to the one that came out of your car. I have uploaded a photo in my album that shows the area that is milled in the original alternator and must be milled or ground down in any replacement alternator. _________________ 1989 ASC McLaren Triple BLUE #128 |
