Clean 1987 For Sale #479 **PICTURES**

Post by 35tsc »

Looking to sell my 1987 ASC McLaren. It is the last one off the block in 1987, its number is 479. It is Black/Black/Blue leather. The car is in great shape. Exterior and interior are in good shape, not perfect but very nice. The previous owner put chrome cobra R's on the car but I still have the original McLaren rims. The rims and center caps are in good shape, tires need replaced, I think that is why he put the cobra r's on it. The previous owner also put on a chrome dual pin stripe. I do not have the original tail light covers :( :( . Everything is stock except optional wheels, exhaust, K&N filter. The original rims will go with the car, I will not seperate them as I feel it is important to stay with the car.

Car currently has 63,171 miles. I would like to get $11,500 but I am open to offers. Please let me know if I am too high or offer me a little more $$$$ if I am too low, either way I will entertain offers. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks
Mark Brenner

pass side pic

Post by 35tsc »

I see I forgot to post a passenger side picture and I also forgot to mention, this car has some unique features the controls on the dash for a power convertible top. It also have a power antennae on the front fender, it did work 2 years ago but the last time I took it out it did not go up when the radio turned on. The car is always stored in a climate controlled garage.

Mark, she's a very interesting car. I tried to do some history on her, but w/out the VIN it wasn't very easy. I'd have to say that the power antenna was done after the car arrived at the original selling dealer. ascMcLaren installed a handfull of power antennas on the Mercury Capri ascMcLaren 2-Seat Roadsters, for 1986, but they were mounted in the rear fender top, on the driver's side. I cannot tell the roof color (black or navy?) but regardless, the roof is an aftermarket replacement, as can be told by the incorrect sew thread style & color. It is the last 1987 made.

Here's how the black Mustang McLarens were made:-

139 with a Black top & Gray Interior
076 with a Black top & Scarlet Interior
064 with a Black top & Sand Beige interior
048 with a Tan top & Sand Beige interior
006 with a Black top & Black interior
001 with a Black top & Blue interior
001 with a Blue top & Blue Interior

335 Total #of 1987-1990 ascMcLarens in Black

Which of the bottom 2 is yours ?? ??

Sandy,
The car has a Black top and Blue interior. I think I talked with you a couple years ago about this car and we had talked about the antennae situation then as well. It looks to be ford factory, looks like the same antennae as on my T-Bird Turbo Coupe. I am not disagreeing that it was put on by the dealer afterwords. I guess the only way to find out would be to call the dealer, (you think they will remember???). I would like an explanation on the button on the dash that says TOP, lights up when lights are on but does not do anything.

Very nice car.

Nice to have such a rare one.

If I was in the market for another one, we'd be talking. Still trying to finish my '65.

I'd be more inclined to think it was ascMcLaren who installed the antenna, if if if the car was a very very early car. But, my gosh it was THE last one. Hint:::: Up in the air, can you see a hole (from underneath) in the front passenger-side fender that might have been "home" to an antenna base / wire sometime in the past ?

If you see NO hole, (filled, of course) then it was asc who did it, IF IF IF You have no code in the Radio space on your broadcast sheet. Some 1987s were ordered without the radio preperation package, and this might be one. They got holeless front fenders.......until the code for Radio Prep was put into the mix.

Sandy,
The current auto antenna is located in the passenger front fender, not the rear as I believe you are implying.
See picture below.

Ahhh, yes. No way of really telling...with it in the front. Over the many years,I've seen about 7-8 1986 Capri McLaren 2-seat roadsters with a rear mount chrome antenna, (as said). The ones I saw were power and were raised by turning on the radio.

pic of wheels and miles update

Post by 35tsc »

To All:

The correct actual miles on the car to date is 63,084, not 63,171 like was said in the original post. Sorry for the mistake.

I have had a few request for pics of the original wheels.

Thanks
Mark

Your centers are black with silver lettering or with gold lettering (ascMcLaren) ?

Sandy: The centers are black with ascMcLaren in gold. Just like the picture here, http://www.ascmclaren.com/PARTS/blkgold.jpg. Only difference is I think mine have a gold ring close to the border. Lets here your take on the correct center cap. Are mine, which have the gold ring around the outside correct, or is the one that Hank has posted without a ring correct?

shelbyscarab: I will get those tire sizes for you this afternoon. The rims are 17" and the front tires are a different size than the rear.

Here is a close up of my center cap. I thought it would be easier to show it than explain in more detail.

I was told that there were 2 batchs made up (I assume by MSW). One batch had the gold ring, and the other did not. Which batch came 1st, I don't know. I do know that they also came with silver lettering, but I do not recall ever seeing a silver ring.....
