Nope...I don't see it.
It looks blue, has the center grey for 1986 (or 85?) and a wrap around orange stripe.
I can't make out if the tailight cover holes are there or the mounting holes for the rear ground effect....so I'm stuck...

The vehicle was NOT built under the D32 code, and was NEVER in the ascMcLaren plant at Livonia !
The area surrounding the taillamps and between the taillamps & license plate alcove are painted the body color, and are RS stock. The McLarens used GS stock, where the fascia was charcoal, not body color. The RS had the charcoal (as this does) below the rear bumper rub strip, to match up with the lower side charcoal accent panel to match up with the front charcoal air dam. On McLarens the body color was BELOW the rear bumper rub strip to match up with the body-colored lower painted sides, as per the D32 code required. This car was a 5.0 (or RS) onto which somebody put ascMcLaren Popsicle Orange stripe kit.
Realx, a McLaren was not lost ! _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Maybe its my monitor, but I thought the color was blue beneath the rub strip on the bumber cover in the auction.

Auction picture:
I don't know, it still looks like the same deal to me. I know what you're saying about the lower charcoal body accent to match up with the front air dam. The lower area of the bumper cover in the auction, although dark, looks blue to me.
I'll take your word for it though that it went to an RS car. My wife always tells me I'm blind as a bat.
Poor RS.

I'm confused, the picture on ebay looks like a GS bumper cover to me.
What am I missing here?

Cars built under D32 code to be shipped to ascMcLaren, allthough RS models, were made at FoMoCo wearing GS rear panels. Go look at the 1986 Facts Book that mike posted on here, late yesterday, and compare the pictures to see. RS had body color surrounding the taillamps lens and license plate "pocket" and the lower part of the fascia (under the rub strip) was flat charcoal, to match the flat charcoal on the body sides (that had been deleted under D32 code for McLarens), and to match the front air dam (deleted uder D32 codes).
The GS rear panel had flat black surrounding the taillamps lens & license plate pocket, and was body colored under the rear rub strip.
The piece in the above e-bay photo is off of a RS, asit's black UDER the rear rub strip. This car was never at ASC ! The owner added a striping kit to a RS car, that's all.
Here I went & got it 4-U:--

And if it turns out to be dark blue instead under the moulding?
My eyes swear they see a hint of blue to that underside...

Dark Blue under the moulding would make it an ascMcLaren. Charcoal would make it a RS. Dark Blue could also be a GS with a tape stripe. It is a possibilty..... _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Staring at until I'm about blind, I think I got it. I think it was a black ascMcLaren. The panel under the moulding just isn't blue. It's waay too dark, not a hint of blue on this monitor, it looks definately black. Could have been a black McLaren _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

I emailed the guy twice about the car. The second time I asked about the color (What a concept!)
He hasn't responded to my second email but he says it came from a 1985 car which was wrecked.
I loaded the picture up and looked at the RGB color distribution and in the "black/blue" area, it has evenly distributed RGB values with a very very tiny tiny tendency to Blue near the flash...but not nearly enough to be "conclusive"
Maybe the guy will respond to my second email and with the VIN.
