Cobrajeff, The light bar you have on the 85 in your pictures. Is it just a stardard mustang light bar? I noticed a few notch marks for the top. Also how does it line up with the raked front windshield? I thought about looking into a standard mustang bar but was afraid it would be to tall.
Thanks

Mike -
The installation of the Classic Design Mustang "Light Bar" turned out to be pretty complicated. I had a shop that fabricates custom roll-bars make up an "H" shaped bracket that bolted into the floor and the "B" pillar door post. I picked up the bar from Classic Design without the vinyl covering on it. I trimmed the foam from the bar, about 4" off the bottom, and notched it for clearance to the top mechanism. I cut about 18" off the bottom of the bar itself, to clear the top in the raised position, and to fit the "H" brace mounting piece.
Here's a view of the "H" brace:
and here are the notches for the top bows:
As far as the angle with relation to the windshield - I kind of wish I had raked it "back" some more. The car looked a lot lower without the bar, but, I figured it was a good safety precaution, and I also liked the idea of the brake light up there high and visible.
There are a few more shots in my personal gallery.
regards,
Jeff |

Do you have any pictures of the car (full) from the side with the bar installed? |

No. It's all about the TIME!
I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old! I get 3 hours a week to work on the car at the MOST!
The parents are coming down next week and my dad says we can pull the dash and swap in the NOS one I have painted up.
In the small amount of time I have had, I have been able to:
1. Restored the doors.
a. Nearly PERFECT door panels have gone on.
b. Nearly perfect black switches were poilished up, strengthened with JBWeld and installed in place of the chrome ones that were there.
c. Black lock knobs were installed in place of the chrome ones.
d. The inside mirror "triangles" were repainted and reinstalled.
e. New mirror control knobs were installed.
f. New door handles and door handle cups were installed.
g. LH Run channel WS was installed.
h. New Door jamb switches and boots were installed.
2. The center console was restored. It is BRAND NEW. INCREDIBLE!
a. It was dissasembled.
b. EVERY part was cleaned and the gauges polished.
c. The console was repaired with JBWeld and some Wonder Puddy to fix cracks and a few holes underneath.
d. Every part was painted either grey or glack inside and out and a NOS front ash tray was installed.
e. The sides of the pad were glued back together with GOOP. And then taped off and painted. It looks BRAND NEW. You can't even tell where I Gooped it!
f. The rear ash tray was dissasembled, cleaned with a dremel and then chrome paint used on the inside and then cleared all over. The housing got repainted black and the whole thing assembled and rivetted back on the console.
Other interior panels have been painted and restored with Wonder Puddy and Copy Cat.
Still on the list (hopefully to do this coming week):
Swap out old dash with new one.
Fix Heater core.
Pull front seats and paint "end caps".
Pull old ACC carpetting and steam clean it.
Run speaker wires to the back.
Swap on a Capri Steering Wheel
Paint the steering column covers.
Replace the ignition cylinder.
That's just what I think needs to be done just to get it so I can feel good about driving it! (plus show the wife it isn't a POS car anymore).
The hatch area (large interior quarter panels, etc) will still need to be restored. The suspension is ATROCIOUS! It all needs to be removed, cleaned, new parts replaced and old parts powder coated. The engine bay is NASTY! Everything will need to be removed, probably need to repaint the engine bay...or clear it....and make it look new. The engine may need to be yanked to do it right.
THEN after it is 99% done, the car will need to go BACK to the body shop to touch up all the DINGS and SCRATCHES that will probably get into the paint here and there from moving everything on and off the car.
It NEVER NEVER ENDS! But its fun to me as long as the wife stays off my back about it.

W-O-W !
You've done alot of work on it. Was it really that bad when you got it? I didn't know you had two little ones. We had one, and yes, alot of time is required for children, so, yes, you've done ALOT.
Too bad you couldn't find one that did not need as much, from the get-go.
Okay different subject. Yesterday I bought a gift for the club! In about a week I'll be mailing it to you, to post. It's pretty special ! ! Since I have no scanner, (and if I did would need to take night courses at the High School to learn to use it, in 12 easy lessons!)
Look for it just prior to Turkey day! Call it an early Christmas or Chanukah present! >> Whatever ~ Your scanner is working.... yes ??
Post it on your site, and then Capri, as well as ascMcLaren people can enjoy it. (http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com) I mean to say. On here, it will only get lost in 7 days. If you need me to refer to my COUPE, it's not going into 360-degree bag storage this winter, just under 3 quilts and then a car cover over the quilts, so I can get to it. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. And what? Crush an 85 coupe? Egads.
Well if things go right this weekend, I think I can get the car inspected and on the road and enjoy it for a bit. It does run well and drive fine. Everything else can be done piece meal as time permits. Its just that blasted DASH has to be dropped to repair the heater core. And since its coming out, the new one may as well go in.

SWEET! Yep, the scanner works! Do you need it shipped back when I'm done?
