I liked the rarity of the factory sunroof too.

ASC sent me a letter authenticating the car in Dec 1988 when it was stolen.

Both my McLaren's (85 & 86) coupes were stolen. I'll be digging out photos soon, but I did post the letter with the VIN of the '86 in the public '86 Coupe gallery.

how do you find out where your car came from???

I knew mine came from there because my cousin and I bought it from the original owner. She told us she bought it there and the car still had the dealer sticker on the bumper.

I would refuse a car with a dealer sticker & even told them I didn't want a plate frame. I've always felt that way.

By what right to they assume to make us rolling billboards? Pay me, we'll talk.

Ok:

1: My old blue/orange 1985 coupe was purchased at Hines Park Lincoln Mercury in Plymouth Michigan. window sticker here: http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/album_pic.php?pic_id=1069

2: I believe my 86 coupe #49 was purchased new in Texas, but I haven't been able to track down the info yet.

My L-M-F dealership is fabulous. I love 'em and am friends the several people there. they take care of ALL my cars, and I am trearted like family. I was even invited to their Christmas party (not this past one - as I was ill) but 2007, and of course there were presents all around the Christmas tree in the showroom. (That is where the party was held) and great food was brought in by a catering company.) The gifts around the tree were for the employees, of which I am NOT. When there was only 1 wrapped gift left, someone told me it had my name on it ! I was near tears when I opened it & found a winter coat! My Town Car proudly displays their small sticker AND their license plate frame. I would not buy a L-M-F anywhere else.

PS/ The people there are all exceptionally nice people. 1 of the salesman has a Graduate degree and another is the oldest, still selling car salesmen in any Ford Motor Company at age 82 and he IS SHARP !
When i bring my Towniee in for___?___ whatever, if i cannot wait due to other engagements, they lend me a Town Car. IF there are NO lenders left, the owner gives me HIS car!

Why do they do this for me? I buy all my cars there & send buyers to them, and we go all the way back to 1986.

Stripes: I changed them to silver and the wheels to anthracite. Cost me $200 and they threw in a complete spare lower stripe set and side skirts.

Hey Sandy,

You have only two coupes listed as sold by Hines Park L-M in Plymouth, MI in 1985, but I recall meeting a number of people who bought theirs there, along with me. The service manger had one as a company car too.

You also have Northtowne in KC listed as only selling Eurocoupes in 1986, but I bought my '86 coupe there and it was authenticated by ASC. I posted the letter to the gallery.

Any updates on the info you've posted? I imagine you've had some feedback.

No updates. Cars at dealerships come & go, and are sometimes swapped out to other dealers and other cars are swapped back, in turn.

CKJ, how come you don't ask me why your window sticker lists "SPECIAL PAINT" ??

Here's the answer...In your car's year, the Dark Blue Metallic was restricted to the GS. ascMcLaren wanted the RS (for the seats and blacked-out greenhouse mouldings.) So, the color was "on line" (in the building being used) but NOT ON the RS line. So, it then became a no charge Special Order. All 84/85 Coupes originally had this on their car's window.
