Need some help. I want to establish an agreed value with my insurance carrier. How might I get an appraised value that it will accept.? So far, the insurance co. has rejected copies of buy-sell offers posted on internet sites
I'm located in Ardmore (suburban Phila.) and my car is 1988 convertible with 38,000 miles. Thanks

What's your insurance carrier?
What kind of value were you looking for?

From what I found out, most did not require an appraisal unless valued over $25K. I went with Ford using INA/ACE USA. An apprasial will cost you at least $125 and I'm not sure how many years it would be good for. There was a guy in Quakertown across from the Quakertown National Bank that did appraisals. It's right on the main road that runs to Allentown. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

A good appraisal will cost you $100 or so. If you have a total loss, it could save you THOUSANDS.
I highly recommend getting an appraisal on your car, and filing a copy of it with your insurance company. You also want to have a good set of clear photos of the car (5"x7" or 8"x10", NOT 3"x5") that show a 3/4 front, 3/4 rear, interior, and engine compartment. The appraisal and pictures should be updated every two years.
I have refereed a few cases on stolen or totaled Mustangs and McLarens. Believe me, you don't want to have to settle for what the insurance adjuster will come up with based upon recent sales in your local paper of similar year vehicles. You want to establish the value of the car, insure it for what it's worth, and know that the car you put so much love and care into is protected.

I checked Hagerty yesterday and their rates on the value you place on the car, providing that you & the car meet their requirements. And their rates are EXCELLENT, as long as it's not a daily driver. _________________ '78 King Cobra
