Hello to all. My name is Stew. I purchased Eric5oh's 1986 Eurocoupe. Picked the car up saturday and got it stuffed into my storage unit. It is gonna be a year or so before I can get started working on the car. No definite plan yet, but the exterior will remain as it looked new. Same for the interior. Motor will be a 302 based EFI motor, nothing crazy but it will have some snot. T5 trans and an 8.8. I'm in love with the cobra brakes I have on my 1990 LX hatchback, but I realllly like these orange wheels, so I have some thinking to do.

As work begins and progresses I will start a thread to chronicle my work.

I say good day!!

Welcome. Keep the original block if you can. It will be worth it down the road.

Mike, the original drive train is long gone. Same with the original seats. Goners. I'd say close to half the original parts of the car are gone.

Oh well. Do her up proud then.

BTW, the orignal seats were simply Mustang seats with grey piping. You can get that upholstery from FMR. Just give them a call. They have upholstery now that looks very close to original.

Everyday I thank the good Lord that my '86 is all original, has everything but cruise control, looks and runs like new. It's now up to 22,000 miles. And I have a standing offer if I ever want to sell it. And that I live only 21 miles from Henry Huisman!!

Yeah, this car stopped being original a looong time ago. I'm not into bragging about having the correct date coded air in the tires. I understand a lot of people here are, and that cool if that's your thing. This car will look 97% stock inside and out; until the hood is popped. Then, all bets are off.

Hey Stew: I have a Corvette like that. Looks absolutely stock when viewed, even when you lift the hood. But it was an L82 to begin with and the cam went bad. Replaced that with a more aggresive cam, had the heads reworked, bigger valves, higher valve spring ratio and a matched set of valve springs. Put on an Edelbrock carbueration, kicked the ignition up 24000 volts. Now it runs. But you lift the hood and it still looks stock. Using the stock air cleaner, still have the cover over the distributor. All looks stock. Love toying with the young kids with their Japanese rice burners and the 'stinger' mufflers. They think the old Vettes can't run! Mine's a 1980, by the way. Arctic White, tan leather interior. License plate "ITZAN 80".

Exactly the same formula I'd like to use on #77.

I'd like to do this to my L-48. 1980 too. Black on red.
