You might find this interesting
http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4129&highlight=blue

Sorry no pics of the cars anymore but that's a different story.

You might also want to talk to mca1686 who just got a bunch of pics of the cars being built.

Those 'brackets' you mention have nothing to do with SSP or police Mustangs. The only floor reinforcements on SSP's ran crossways under each seat under the two rear seat studs. They would have been spot welded or riveted in place or like my '89 SSP, both methods were used.

I was referring to the red paint question... But yeah all that bracing you see is from ASC it's what holds the car together now that it's a convertible.

Interesting stuff. The pics to the links dont seem to work for me, I would like to see what they looked like. So I guess not all of the mustangs were black and white then, some odd red ones thrown in the mix.

Units made with blue had to be exterior of white. Any other exterior color ordered by dealer, other than blue interiored cars where black.

When there were big dealer orders for asc McLarens - the cars were made in bright red, because many exterior colors would go with the red interior, such as Silver, White, Black, Red, or Gray.

Anyway, that was what a employee told me, recently, when we spoke on the phone.
FORD was getting alot of orders for
lx coupes w/ V-8 in either black or white exterior paint.

RED exterior, with RED interior were used when FoMoCo got a large order from Police, especially interstate roadways.
The red interior would go with both whiteor black extterior, that ascMcLaren would paint. The Red interior, as I mentioned, would go with many asdMcLaren exterior colors, and keep ascMcLaren in enough "mules" to get by, until the "Staties" orders were filled.
The Red interior went with:
White; Black; Red; Gray; Silver; and perhaps 1 or 2 other ascMcLaren hues,

Thanks for the clarification, some of the older posts people stated the cars only came from ford in black and white versions. This had me worried because I was seeing lots of maroon under the porsche red and was afraid my car might be one of those frankenstangs where the front half is a different car than the rear and it is welded up in the middle. Although at this point the rust I do have is so bad that I may have one when the repairs are done.

Does anyone have any pictures of them welding in supports and frames?
