So I've been searching for a shop that will make me some new floor mats cause Hank doesn’t have them. I’ve been to several local places and even emailed some custom out of state places with no luck. I had one guy looking through catalogs looking for them…I said, “They aren’t going to be in any catalog” and he said well I have like 5 books we can look through…lol.

So anyway, it seems all the hotrod TV car show shops use Gabes in California. Even a couple of hotrod build-off guys use him. They were entering their cars in a show where the judges use mirrors and flashlights under the car to make sure the inside of the frame is polished/painted…I’ve even seen Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington use Gabes…so I know their work is awesome…

Well I emailed them with some pictures and the response was basically they don’t specialize in that…sorry they couldn’t be more help…DAMN. This sucks… Sad

Oh well, the search continues.

Thanks for trying. It would be nice to get some made up.

The ones Hank has sold in the past were custom made....but really only had embroidery put on a standard mat. I've often thought about just getting a similar plain set and having a local shop embroider the grey square and the logo on them. They won't be perfect but they would "look" colser to the original style.

Try this:
Call asc - Southgate, Michigan. When you get a real live person (hopeless these days) ask to be connected to PARTS. There are a couple people left in PARTS from the old days. Ask around if any of them know.

If not, as to leave a message on MARK TROSTLE(s) voice mail and ask him. HE & HE ALONE is the last person there from the old days, and HE is now a Veep. Absolutley do NOT use my name!! Mark might recall who they used, and THAT company MIGHT have records and/or logos or something....
It's American Sun Roof Corporation in Southgate, Michigan.
Good Luck. (It WILL take a miracle).

EDIT

It's NOW called American Specialty Car
Tele # is 1 734 285 4911
Now owned by Questor Mgmnt Co.

I had sent him a couple of letters and none were replied to. He is NOT one of the people I was close with. Yes, I knew he was a President - just forgot as he was a VEEP for so long, I still think of him in that capacity.

I got this from a guy at FEP...

Quote:
Actually ACC or trim part could have it made for you. Embroidered would be easy. You would have to supply the digitized disc for the embrodery to them. That would cost you anywhere from $250-$1000 depending on the stitch count. The two tone dyed color like original would be A LOT more money but it could be done.

The problem is the trademark and copyright of the logo it self. You can get in big trouble for making/selling a part with that logo on it. You would have to get permission from McLaren to use the logo. If you could do that you would be in business.

Mike

I wonder if Trim Parts could make it but without the logo....I could have somebody embroider a logo onto the material after I get a suitable "base" matt.

My boss and his wife have an embroidery machine and do custom work. If someone could send me a digitized picture, I can ask if they are interested.

I'm thinking if we can get just that center section done we can sew it into any standard grey floor mat....it would be relatively cheap and look ok.

I doubt we would ever get 100% original....but it would look close.
