Has anyone had any bad experiences regarding blowing up more than one alternator on a '87 'stang before you found out why it was happening?
Mechanic says that both black wires coming out of the unit need to be carrying 12 volts, but both are dead.
Finally does anyone know where the fusible links for the system are located? Schematic shows that there are three of them.
It gets confusing because there was an alarm on the car. It was later diabled, leaving numerous wires that lead to nowhere. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/darkhorse40/

Here is a pics of the links off a 93, anything earlier should be about the same.
You will haveto look at the owners manual to figure out which link is the one, it should have a color coding in there to help identify it easier. It will be between the starting solenoid and the main harness for the engine.
Have you put two alternators on the car just to find out that they don't work?
Ignore the circled fuse link, that ones for your fuel injection. _________________ 87 ASC Mclaren Mustang #416 |
