America ia a great place. I can disagree with all of you, except for 4, andnothing is going to happen to any of us.
Regarding Lincoln:
I had a Corvette, followed by a Pontiac GTO, followed by a Buick Skylark Gran Sport 400.
I got sick 'n tired of the pot holed roads, and all of the rattls, squeeks and hard jarring from hitting Jersey's finest expansion srtrips, pot holes, RR tracks, speed bumps and such. So, at age 38 (is that old ??) I bought a new Lincoln Mark 6. Suddely.....overnight.... all roads got "fixed" ! The Lincoln just glided over all of the mess left behind by the telephone, gas, and electric companies cutting up the roads. No squeeks, no rattles from the Mark 6 and piles of insulation everywhere. So, in 1998 I bought a Mark 8. Same experience as with the Mark 6.
Now I drive a 10 thousand mile 2003 Town Car - the Springtime "Fearture
Car" THE LIMITED (340 WERE MADE) and it's handling defyes its size. It had the newer Watts suspension and it absolutly CAN hang in there. Smooth as butter-cream over any surface.
With remote start, and a 2nd garage door lift in the house, I can lift the garage door, start the car, turn on the heater and lock the car's doors.
THAT to me...... is more important than what miserable numbers it would turn in, on the skid pad, or it's 0-60 seconds. It's about comfort, room, ride & convenience.
I was at "Office Max" (like Staples) last week. Next to me was a Benz, an "E" Class, new, like a 2009 or 2010. Owner comes to it, holding a very heavy computer monitor , he has to slowly & carefully set it down on the ground, and then insert his key into the trunk loce turn & lift trunk lid. (Damn thing does not even open itself.) Then he bends down
(this guy is like my age, now, 64) and with great effort he picks up this big monitor and puts it into the trunk. Now then, he is like 5 foot five
and inside the trunk, he has tied a homemade thin rope to a hole in the underside of the trunk lid, so he reaches for the rope & pulls it and the trunk lid comes down & he closes it.
My Town Car? Button on key fob opens trunk to fully opened posistion and another push of the button, the trunk lid powers itselt all the was down and locks.
The luxury of it all. But, I am sure, that this 64 Y.O. man would surely beat MY T.Cars #s on the skid pad.
The stupid car didn't even have cornering lamps. I know it costs more than my T.C. It had a sun roof, but no glass panel, a metal panel. He will never know how nice it is to open the interior shade in Januay when there is brilliant sunshine heating the car as it beams through the glass.
I am positive that he paid mch more than I did for my car, and got alot less hands-on features. BUT.....he has a Merrr SAY-dees.
I shoulda asked him IF his glove box is air conditioned so that he can keep a chocolate bar in there for long trips in the summer.
Mine is. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Sound like a great car, and a much better value than the MB.
My dad defined a bargain as, "Both people think they got the better deal, but one of them knows it." _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/darkhorse40/

Thats odd that the E class doesnt open itself, my C class does. Now I do have to manualy close that thing, but how often are you inconvenienced by having to close one?
I love the Mark VIIIs, it is a sportier looking car, and they handle great. Biggest problem I have with the VIIIs is you by one new for 40K+, and sell them 5 years later for 5K. They are pretty common down here in GA, and most used car dealers can't get rid of them. It was also another car that I talked to folks about and people couldnt understand why I would want a lincoln. Definately a great car though.
You guys seem to be about awe factor, the Lincolns don't seem to get much attention, most peoples eyes are drawn to a Merc before a Lincoln. _________________ 87 ASC Mclaren Mustang #416 |

Merc before a Lincoln.
..................................Did you mean a Mercury ?
See, here in Jersy, most call the other car..... a Benz......When parked in the dark and I am about 90 feet away, my Lincoln puts on her headlites for me, too.
Only thing on it that sukxxx is the clock ! What were they thinking???
Analog timepiece. Background is Ivory-cream
Think of a 1/2 gallon of white paint, into which you stir 3 ounces of yellow.
Then the clock's hands are gold.
With sun behind the car it's impossible to see thr time.
Father Ford needs to restyle the Town Car and pull it ahead again, as they did in 2003. I was given a MKS for a few hours, as they were trying to temp me. I WAS NOT IMPRESSED.
The style - to ne - is ugly and it is a bacically a total dumming down of a Volvo S80 - which IS a beauty, especially in the Premier Elite series. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Sandy: The clock is no worse than the gauges in my Expedition. Totally unreadable in daylight. All you can see are the tach & speedo! Black background with dark lines, numers and red needles. Someone should pull their head out of their asses and out white backgrounds with dark letters and bright orange needles. The informetion display is also black with dim little pixels. Again, unreadable in daylight especially if you have a light colored shirt on. Other than that, a great vehicle. That shows average fuel economy, temperature outside and mileage. P.I.T.A..... |

This is my 3rd Lincoln, and my dealer is ubber fantastic. I cannot even put into words the appreciation for my business that he has showen to me. I like the Lincolns very much. I don'y buy them to impress strangers nor friends. I don'y care if my car has no WOW factor. It WOWs me, every time I drive it. It's like every road has been repaved. No pot holes, expansion joints, nada! Super smoooooth, ereee quite.
Every possible convenience out there, Plush, heavy-feel, zero squeeks, no rattles or squeeks. It reminds me of my old Imperials. (1968-1975).
It's NOT a daily driver. 7 years "old" (2003) with 10,000 miles, or like 1,300 @ year.
My wife is getting the hots for a 2011 Jeep Liberty Limited 4X4 to replace her 2001 Jeep Cherokkee Limited 4X4. Big rebates on Libeery ($5,000) _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

We have a person we know (Notice I didn't use friend), that just bought a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He got it with the backpay he got from his disability claim for his military service.
They sent him to VietNam, he has flat feet so he began crying about how his feet hurt, they sent him back to the states, gave him a 20% disability and a discharge. Never a minute exposed to danger. Then he filed a claim for PTSD because they sent him to VietNam and it scared him. They finally gave him 100% for it!!! I don't consider anyone like that a 'friend', nor someone I can respect. They have a word for people like him.
I spent 93 days in a military hospital and I've never asked for a dime. And he's a huge Republican Patriot, wants a balanced budget, all Dem appointees fired etc., hates Obama! |

I meant Mercedes when I said Merc, Benz just sounds like something that happens when you decompress too fast, but I understand the confusion. _________________ 87 ASC Mclaren Mustang #416 |
