|
|
About 2 weeks ago I saved a 85 Mclaren #242 Convertible from the crusher. I owned the car 12 years ago and could not believe it ended up in the junk yard. The car needs to much to be saved back to original, so I will be making my 85 Mclaren Convertible a Track Car, I will be parting out the complete interior and other misc ASC specific parts. All interior parts are tan. I have the complete center console, tan door panels, tan armrests, rear storage compartments, top trim, door rope pulls, and many other parts. I would figure I would offer it here, before the stuff goes on Ebay... pics of car..

Some people give special interest or limited production car no respect! Ya wanna trash a 'Stang, go and buy a regular off the used car lot 5.0 'Vert and trash that. They shgould leave their hands oof any McLaren, Saleen or any other "special" Imagine what they'd do to a 1948 Tucker if they could ? _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. That'll make for a sweet track car.
As far as I'm concerned this car is too far gone to do a resto and in this age of uncertainty over oil prices you might as well have the kind of fun you want with it before it becomes a garage queen for lack of inexpensive gas.
Wow, did that turn out to be long sentence. _________________ Tom S.

Sandy.. I have to disagree with you here. This car would take way to much money to bring back from the junk yard state it is in. I am giving this car a new life... a new beginning if you will. I owned the car back in the early 90's It had been hit hard in the rear and fixed horribly. Now that the car has sat for 8 years in the weather with it's top down, it's just not a car that would be a canidate for restoration. Trust me.. when I get down with it.. she'll look just fine and still get the Mclaren respect she deserves. And BTW I already have a Mclaren Coupe that is getting fully restored..
So think what you want, I thought it would be fair to offer these parts to others for their restoration projects.

I think Sandy was referring to the previous owners who trashed it. (admittedly he wasn't being very clear).

Of course. I was referring to the prior owners who abused it. What you are doing is comendable, you are granting it a 2nd life, OUT of the salvage yard. Sorry if I wasn't clear with that. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Frank -
I would be very interested in some of those ASC-specific parts. Drop me an email at cassman108@yahoo.com w/ what you have, the general condition and what type of pricing we're talking.
Thanks,

Is it really a power antenna, OR is the original black whip antenna just snapped off at the base? The ONLY ascMcLarens to ever get power antenna were a handfull or so of very very early build 1987 'Stangs. In all these years, I have found 3 with it. I was told years & years ago, that "About the first dozen cars converted for 1987 had it."
It was listed as STANDARD equipment on the initial 1987 ascMcLaren applied window sticker, then they reprinted them and omitted it. I have 2 such window sticker examples. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

The power antenna was in the same location, but if my (old) memory is still working, the antenna was chrome, and very thin with a 100% flat "ball" on top

U like that. (visually bring the _ down to meet the U ) _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.
