HIde your eyes Sandy.
She's sporting new kicks.
There they are, peeking out from under the hibernation blanket?
(Whoa, looks like I had better get a toothbrush out to clean up some wax residue above the moldings.)

Well, at least they are the closest thing to original wheels. _________________ 87 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 cabriolet(sold)

You just need some custom ascMcLaren or 5.0 SC center caps!

I figured that since the black top wasn't the correct color I would just follow it with black mesh wheels.
Yes, I agree, it would be very nice to have ASC centers on them. I am open to ideas about where/how to do that.
The original 4 golden wheels were missing 2 of the SC 5.0 centers when I bought the car, so at least now it has all 4 centers.

I have a full extra set of the wheels in my barn, but only 1 center cap.
My '86 has all the center caps, and they say '5.0 SC'. |

Ken, maybe I have it backwards. I have to look again when I go over to the garage to see if my 2 are 5.0 SC instead of SC 5.0.

Thanks for the Urls that you sent for vinyl decals.
The problem is that my ARE centers are not smooth and flat, consequently the decals will not work on them.
I guess that blacked out will have to suffice for now. _________________ Favorite rides past & present:

Hi Ron- I have both center emblem kits {in various colors} & caps available for the ARE's, if interested shoot me a PM. I'll try to find my old post on them as well.

I just happened to have a picture of my wheels next to me. I double checked. They are 5.0 SC and the name 'McLaren' is in raised letters around part of the center cap. |

Looks fine with me. ...... ? Wht did yiu do with the Gold mesh wheels, pixtured on the car, on the link ?
Does your car have a wood dash ? Most of the ones I have seen were on black 1985 Verts with the Sand Beige interior. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

The gold mesh & tires are put away in my shed.
I am keeping them for the day that I replace the black top with a tan one. Then it will all be put back to original.
It does have a wood dash that is glued on, no screws.
The problem is that the wood is coming unglued & is cracked into strips about an inch wide.
If anyone on here has dealt with this problem & restored the wood rather than replace it, I sure would like to hear how you did it. _________________ Favorite rides past & present:

If it's the right kind of glue, it can be removed with a hair dryer. Just get it good and hot and the wood should release from the dash.
Any residual glue can be removed with peanut butter. Rub it on, let it sit and use a cloth to wipe it off. Before reinstalling the wood you will need to clean it very thoroughly with alcohol to remove any oil that is left behind. |

Maybe if there is some pvc tubing in the right size, you could fabricate a short sleeve or adapter of some kind. Finished in black, of course.
Don't know what feasibilty is, just a first thought. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/darkhorse40/
