Mike- I would think a Lumber wagon would be a better ride, not to mention 4-6 mpg at $3.10/gal - They should consider removing the 30's, selling them separately and put some nice 18" wires on it and oh yeah, some fuzzy dice !!!

There's that number 186 again?
In several dependable lists it states that there were 257 McLaren convertibles produced in 1985.
Why do I keep seeing this 186 number given instead?
It looks like this one is sporting fender stripes from an earlier CS
Photos of black cars can be deceiving, but this one sure looks nice in these photos. _________________ Favorite rides past & present:

I can answer that question.
25 years ago - at the end of 1986, is when I got into these cars. First the Coupe (as I had just bought mine) and close behind, then the converts.
It was then that I began getting to know persons behind the scenes withthese cars. One of the guys there, sent me a page of 1986 'Vert production. There were 186 units on the page he sent me. Therefore, I assumed 186 was the # total of the 1985 'Verts. I began telling a few persons that 186 was THE total # of 1985s made. About a month or so larter, he sent me "PAGE 2" ! 5hat he had, but had come apart from Page 1, due to the staple coming apart. At the bottom of page #2 was the word "FINAL" - Page 2 had an additional 71 units.
This guy (or a prior owner of this car) must have found me at that time, and I must have told him 186 were made.. The time span in between was like a couple months, 2 or 3 - until he sent me page #2.
257 IS 100% correct, for 1985 'Vert production. 245 for 1986 _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Thanks Sandy,
That certainly clears up the difference in 85 convert. totals that comes up from time to time.
