For Sandy,
a 1 of a kind Imperial prototype spotted at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
a very small vert. to give you an idea how small, check out its size compared to the Chevette parked next to it.

I dunno..........
If it was a basket case, then well, Okay.
If it was a former show car, 100% original and flawless,
then NO NO NO NO
It looks weird, as small as that. Pretty good attention to detail
These fifties Hemis could really move ! Remember those Imps weighed over 5,000 poinds, all steel, no plastic, 230 inches loooong
and zero to 60 was 4 seconds behind a 1960 Corvette.
I am counting..... We had a total of 10. 5 were my Dad's and 5 were mine. Beginning in 1962 and ending with my 1982.
MY FAVORITE the 1971

If it was a P.O.S. or had been on fite and this owner made ir whole again & then customizd it - well that's just great....
on the other hand, if it was a concours 100% original trophy winning 100 percent original, then that is not right to do. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

i am not sure what the real story was.
i overheard it was a 1 of a kind prototype by chrysler.
so it may be just restored.
it was really small. seeing an american car that small from the 50's was strange!
a chevette is shadowing over it for petes sakes! _________________ Jason Ringuette

Wouldn't be the first time some guy's backyard project turned into another guy's "prototype".

Thanks for the video, Tom ! (Did you lose my Tele. # ??)
It's neat, no doubt about it.
I just wish people would STOP calling them CHRYSLER immperial ~
No Imperial after 1956 ever had the nameplate of CHRYSLER ON an IMPERIAL
It's not a Ford Lincoln Town Car, nor is it a GM Cadillac DTS and likewise, it is NOT a Chrysler Imperial !! Not on the TITLE, not on the REGISTRATION, not on the Insurance Policy and NOT on the CAR !!
Yes, prior to 1957, it WAS called a Chrysler Imperial, but nearly none of you were even BORN then !!!!
I just realized that this pic can be made BIG 1971 Imperial LeBaron 2-Dr. Hardtop with ALL options.

Ahem, ahen, ahem.
I WAS born then. In fact in 1957 I was wearing the uniform of the United States Air Force and was staioned at a remote radar site in Northern Canada. No Imperials there. Dodge Power Wagons and a few heavy pieces of equipment, and that was all. Oh yeah, and an L-20 'Beaver' aircraft. |

very cool link. when i saw it last tuesday, the owner wasnt near the crowd around the car, so i couldnt get any details or solid info.
i thought it was something chrysler came up with to compete against the t-bird & vette, then customized by the owner.
either way, its still neat! (for a mopar!)
speaking of 2 seater verts, hank was floating around mustang alley saturday pushing his new grabber blue vert.
talked a minute or 2 with him about the new retratable(he never seems to want to talk asc's) & i asked what happens if it breaks?
will i have to take it to FLA for repairs?
good news for those considering the retractable on there 2010-12.
if it breaks, it is covered under some sort of warranty & can be serviced at your local ford dealership. _________________ Jason Ringuette

I thinks its very similar to, if not based on, the Fury body. But it sure is a beautiful car. I'd love to have one, but Sandy would hate because I'd want to modify it with, at least, modern brakes and tires.
But then I may be partial because one of my first cars was a '69 Fury III, then later, I had a '70 Gran Coupe'.

That would be fine with me, because the brakes on Imperials were alway poor. The cars were just too heavy, too strong to use any brakes in MOPAR's parts "bin". My '71 LeBaron Coupe as seen above. weighed in at 5.475 pounds. Yet, when I demanded it, the 440 4BBL could come alive. Damn, I really miss that car...... _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. 5500 lbs ??? Oh! Good Lord. My medium duty stake truck does'nt weigh that and it has a turbo diesel to pull it around.
