I may be relocating to the Albany / Saratoga, NY area. I'm curious as to how the state is in regard to car friendly-ness? What are annual registration fees like? Do they have onerous inspections like PA? Anything of note would be appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

Inspections are pretty normal. Safety and emissions for newer cars. I think if you register it as a classic/antique inspections are waived. Just check the DMV.

No property tax on cars last time I knew.

Lived there for most of my life and it was no big deal. About the same as NC where I am now.

Hi! I moved to Saratoga region in 2010 for work (globalfoundries). I haven't registered the mclaren yet was waiting for Jan 2012 for it to be a "Historic vehicle", which it now is but I've been too busy. specialty vehicles / historic vehicles should get a pass on emissions if they aren't daily driven if I recall correctly, but need to check it out again.

Cars need an inspection every year and there are correlating stickers in the window. I haven't yet had to do emissions but my main cars are pretty new (2006 tacoma 4x4 and 2011 evo x mr).

Annual registration, like 60 bucks for a pretty new car and 15 for safety inspection sticker. I was paying like 450 a year for my audi in arizona before I moved here, none of that crap here.
