I found this one from way back when.
"Number: 1900
From: "gemellifamily <jgemelli@o...>" <jgemelli@o...>

Subject: Mclaren Carnage
Body:
Well I see that Sandy has driven the coupe less than 300 miles since
I talked to him about 10 years ago. It looks mint!
Mine took an alternate route.
Blue car - Race prepped and unfortunately tossed a rod and trashed
the webbing in the block. There went that motor!
The stock 7.5" rears don't hold up well to over 300hp apparently
either.
Next it was hit while stopped. The dean of the english department at
my college backed right into the quarter panel. Cars at 56,000 miles.
The red one has over 70k. That rear locked up while my father in-law
was driving it. Luckly no crash.
Unfortunately it had a curb jump right in front of it while my wife
was driving. I didn't mind changing the tires. It was the fact that
the swaybar ripped right off the frame that bothered me most.
I'll get pictures soon as I can
both cars were bought used in 1991 and 92. Total cost 12,500
Would I do it again? OH Yes!"
Well sadly I have 3 of them in better shape than they were in 2003 at least though I do need a new engine in one and an alignment on the other.
Hopefully I can find that original registry Sandy used to put out over the mail. It was cool it included the details around the cars and the addresses of who owned them. We were asked not to pass the info around as some one might use the info to steal things.
Just feeling sentimental about the old days I guess. |

Yep. When we switched over, I wrote a program to suck down all the posts from Yahoo. And then clean them up.
If you want, you can maybe use google to search the posts OR down load the zip file and search them locally on your computer.
I did NOT want to lose any of the information that people might have provided.
Now that the great one has passed...I am even more glad that I did it.
When I first found the Yahoo group I went back through and reread all the posts and put together a bunch of the posts in the information area about the cars, etc. I had Sandy edit/comment on them as I put them up. I'm so glad I did.
The Old Yahoo Posts (some good reading):
