Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mike...
I did not get the one you pointed out (yet), but there was another one listed that I did win.
I have been searching off and on for over 2 years, but always looked for one listed with KRC-2001 in title. Low and behold, I search for just Kenwood cassette today and 2 appear on ebay!!!

Guys, you're telling me an original radio, in the box no less, with ALL parts, is not worth more than $40?
I was not going to bid on it but I forgot I had put this auction into my Hammersnipe account for a paltry $46. (ooops...now you know another secret of mine)
Honestly, its a crime it went for as little as $41.

$41! I paid $150 from Hank! USED! With no box! With a BIG yellow QUESTION MARK scrawled on top. I don't even know if it works!
A CRIME I TELL YOU!

Yeah...I don't know exactly what you told that guy but I would have offered him $400 for it or have him give you the name of the guy he "gave" it to so you could offer him $400.
I bet that would have gotten it for you.
I have it listed to watch for. Hopefully another pops up....slim chance...but I've seen 1 NEW Kenwood, 1 NEW Alpine and 1 NEW Radar Detector go by....so there's hope....

I didn't get much of a chance to say anything. He told me that his employee begged him to sell it to him, and so he did. He did not indicate what the employee paid for it. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

And at which point you reply...."well, I hope you got $xxx out of it...cause that's what it is worth to me. If your friend wants to sell, you have my email address."

Thanks again Mike. I may need some of your documentation in the near future. Perhaps a couple scanned pages if you do not mind. I will keep you posted. Mine cost $28.56 including $7 shipping and $1 insurance. The seller indicated it was in working order. He was a power seller with over 1100 items sold and a 99.8% feedback rating. I have my fingers crossed. I had to email him to find out the model number. Thanks to your pictures, ( I think you posted some a while back which I downloaded) I was able to identify it even though the seller had not listed the model.
I was going to buy/bid on the other one as well, but became concerned when I noticed the seller had only 2 prior transactions and I had already won this other one. Also, the pictures just did not seem to be the same unit? It was probably just fine, but I guess I did not have a clear picture of the top of the unit. The posts I downloaded a year ago showed the front and bottom side of the unit, no top side image. Just wondering...
Congrats on your purchase! I would have paid significantly more to obtain one of these units if I had too. |

The top is on my site....it is different in shape than the bottom. This Kenwood has the yellow sticker in about the same spot too...I think what threw you off was the face plate is detached and in the box.

I will verify with the seller that it is a KRC-2001...if it is not, there is no reason to complete the transaction....as it is not as described.

Mike, I have looked at Hammersnipe, and it makes me a bit skittish to give them my ebay password when they are providing a free service. Have there ever been reports that this place is not on the up-and-up? _________________ Robert

Same deal for me. I looked at others but never decided to try one until I heard other people use it....
My password is unique for ebay...and is different than paypal. The only thing they could "get away" with would be to either sell stuff or bid on stuff without me knowing...and in both cases I would see it almost immediately and change passwords. My feedback could be affected from some pissed off sellers but that is about all.
They could potentially contact people under my username...but the person would reply back to my email account and I would see it.

Got the Kenwood...funny thing is, this guy was also selling a Sherwood amp on ebay....which I guess did not sell....
So I have a KRC2001 radio, sherwood amplifier, an installation kit for the sherwood, an installation kit for the the krc....and a bag of various knobs and assorted installation HW.
Looks like the guy was just looking to clean house and couldn't bear to toss anything.
The KRC is nearly new...the face looks perfect, not a scratch or a blemish or hazing or anything.
Anybody need a cute little Sherwood amp?
