84 Color Jubba Blue. Anyone have any idea what this color looks like? Besides checking inside the floors, is there a color code on the car someplace? I've come across a shade darker grabber blue color car and wondering if it's Jabba Blue and original.

Ok, upon closer inspection, it's not the single Jubba Blue car. It's a white 84 with a blue metalic repaint. Looks like the trim stripe and wheels were a darker blue, maybe Jubba blue. Overall thecar is a bit rough but not trashed.

How were the 84 numbered on the dash plaque. Was #1 really the first production car?

the green 84 is owned by darkhorse40

Quote:

April 2009

I have found out the story of your green ascMcLaren ! (Made a call to God!) Laughing Your car is # 43 of 50 made. Your VIN ends in 620353 !
the Color is Dark Jade Green Metallic.
The Top is "Tan" & the interior is "Sand Beige".
The car was UINsold & IN STOCK at ascMclaren. A person came along & told a man there that he'd buy the car IF they'd repaint it in that Dark Green Color. The car was originally "Atlantic Blue" Metallic (Dark) with the Tan Top & Sand Beige Interior. I was told to look deep into the driver's side door hinge to see a bit of the blue. They wet sanded and repainted it AT ASC McLaren, and sold the car. In 1995 the car had 48,500 miles onit. At that time it belonged to a Mr. Ray Noble of St. Louis, Mo.

Sandy

P.S. -- I 4-got to tell you that it was THE FIRST unit painted in Atlantic Blue (it was a late 1984 at #43 (of 50) and they wanted to see HOW the car looked in Atlantic Blue, before OKing it for production for the 1985s. It was THE only '84 painted Atlantic Blue Metallic, and the only 1984 1985 1986 painted in that Dark Jade-Green Metallic, for that initial owner, whom I do not know whom he / she was...

So it would seem a black car was painted Atlantic Blue and then Green. This was #43 and has surfaced as a green car.

The Jubba Blue car may or may not exist but is similar in color to the earlier 81/82 prototype and probably the blue used on the wheels of the white cars.

None of the remaining black cars have surfaced either.

I started the discussion because I came across a Blue 84 ASC Vert. more to follow as I dig into it. And the plaque is on the dash not the quarter panel.

Back in 2011, I spotted an 84 Vert. on a used car lot. It was in rough shape but the worst part was the interior. The wife gave me the ok to buy it cheap but I really did not need another project. It was a white 84 repainted Blue with a blue vinyle top. Thus the reason for the Jubba Blue discussion. I found it odd to see an 84 on the west coast. I believe the tag on the quarter panel showed it to be #1. No one really seemed interested in discussing the car and I passed the sale info to a couple of Mustang shops but no one followed thru. The car sold and disappeared. I will keep a look out for it in the area.

I did a smog check history and the car seemed to stay in two local areas nearby. The used car dealer said it came from a local collector who did not believe in fixing up his cars. One would guess 2 pervious owners.

The other day I went back and scanned thru the old website archives and found a post about an 84 for sale in the local area dated 3/21/2001. I'm pretty sure it's the same car as the phone number matches the area and the add states it's blue witha blue top. Same as the one I found. I'll post this info along with the phone number in the VIN database.

Last week someone showed up on the ascMcLaren Facebook group with 1984 vert number 2. I asked if he was in the Detroit area and to my surprise he said he was from Nevada. He said the car was originally sold by McHugh Lincoln mercury of Los gatos California. He said that dealership got cars number 1, 2 and 4. Number one was white with blue top and was driven by the owners daughter. I found it very interesting that 1984 cars made it to California for sale new. I thought that they were all in the Detroit area.

So are you in the Los Gatos area?
