Help!, Help!, Help! Looking for a set of blue Recaro seats for an 85 Mclaren convertible. The ones I have are beyond repair (at least $800 to have the recovered). A little wear is ok. Please let me know if you can help. These are the blue leather with the speakers in the headrest. Or if any one knows any where to get aftremarket to match. |

Somehow I doubt you're going to find that. The chances that someone is getting rid of their seats are slim....chances that they are only slightly worn are even slimmer... and chances that they are blue are even worse yet.
Of course, 5 minutes from now somebody is going to offer up exactly what you want
If your seats are not ripped but just worn badly, you can get a leather repair kit and refinish the seats. Somebody here has done it and it was amazing how they turned out....they looked nearly new. Definitely gave them a second life.
Of course if you DO find a set (but in the wrong color), dye them to the the color you need....that might improve your chances...

I figured I was not going to find a set, especially in blue. Mine are really beyond repair. I took them to a shop, and they said the problem was that they were so bad, they couldn't get a pattern off them, hence high labor cost...anybody happen to have patterns for these seats?...that would help alot |

Contact Hank at www.ascmclaren.com.....
He has original material I believe....and can get your seats recovered back to original.
I don't think he will want to give you a pattern....as this is one way he makes money.

The above link was a recent discussion.
Sounds like you could find a Recaro dealer near you and have them done but it would be $900 per seat.
Nobody found out what Hank (www.ascmclaren.com) charges but I bet its going to be at least $700 before shipping.
Leather upholstery isn't cheap. I checked at 50resto and a full upholstery kit (front and back) for your normal Mustang is $900....and those are mass produced....and not preinstalled.
That $800 for custom work is starting to look like a bargain if they can do it right.
