Finally figured out why the top was going up and down with a lot of difficulty--one of the pivot pieces is broken. I Spent some time looking for a similar piece, and all I can find are pivot screws for other cars. This one is on my 86 Capri and has a large rounded smooth head like a rivet. It looks like it was pressed into the top frame. The head is about 5/8" in diameter, it goes through one frame piece with a 3/8" shank, then the shank is reduced to 1/4" and pressed into the other frame piece. The shaft is .58" long.
So where do you get these parts, and how do you install them? Is there a replacement piece I can use? _________________ Dan

Post up a picture so we can see what it is or go look at the one on our cars. There probably no replacements but something could be made to to work. Some of the stuff I have seen on my car looks like regular bolts just welded in place. _________________ Kevin Gold card MCA Judge for Fox Body

Thanks!
I called Henry and sent him a pic. He knew exactly what it was and is sending me a replacement. He called it a rivet and said I had to peen the back end of it. That doesn't sound too easy, but I'll get a friend to help. that should make for a funny story. _________________ Dan
