My name is Dan and I'm an alco... wrong forum
I was sent to you by friends at the Grassroots Motorsports board, nice bunch of folks there. I just bought a 1986 ASC Capri automatic.

Other than what you see here, I know little about the car. It's rust free, white with the original wheels and a set of Centerlines, all for $900. I've made arrangements to have it shipped from Ohio to upstate NY; once it gets here anticipate a flurry of questions on things you guys have covered a hundred times already.
Thanx for listening.

Any thoughts or links to a throttle cable would help.

I see them on ebay a fair amount. Call the dealer, they will be able to locate them. I think they ran until 93....there should be plenty accross the country. Have the dealer do a nationwide search.

HELLO Posting the VIN for starters would help define if it's a full packaged unit or a EuroCoupe model (originally) ~ _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

With everything you see above, still worth $900?

You could part it out for more, so I'd say "YES" ~ Just keep an eye (and a log) on what you spend on it so we don'y get to carried away.... _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

what are you plans for it?
Full resto?
Partial Resto?
Daily driver?
If the car is rust free (as the guy claims) and has a straight wreck free body, $1000 is a drop in the bucket for body work. You will be a fair amount ahead of the game already.
BUT, if you are looking for restoring it back to it's former glory with all the trimmings, it's an expensive nut to swallow. I would do a minimal resto, meaning, buy the ground effects only so it mostly looks like an asc from the outside and just fix her up as needed to make her look good.
In the end, you need to ask if it's worth owning an asc is more valuable to you than the actual value of the car. Cause, restoring them won't bring their value up to recoup what you have put in the car.
To me, $900 is a drop in the bucket to all the other costs involved. My replaced/refurbed wheels cost nearly that.
Bluntly put, if you're worried about $900 then you're probably not going to be happy when you start sinking Franklin after Franklin in the car.
In any event, welcome to the group. I don't mean to get down on you or anything but don't start sweating the details just yet cause you've got a loooong ways to go. To make it as perfect as possible it will cost you $15k-$20k for a full resto. A full asc Coupe parts package will be $7k alone (ground effects, wheels, steering wheel, etc etc etc). Body work/paint will be $5k. Another $5k for everything else. Where'd that $900 go?
