Mine arrived today at 4PM. (The tie rod tips). They have green tags stuck on them from FoMoCo that say T-BIRD Blob

Any help?

I called green sales and they took one out of the box and measured 1 1/8" from the top of the boot to the end of the stud.

Does anyone know the correct measurements?

For some strange reason, this post never popped up on my screen when I clicked READ NEW. I just saw it for the 1st time at 5:20PM on Monday. I will go downstairs and get the box & open it and post. Give me 30 minutes!

Thanks, I'll get some pics up tonight.

The two I got AND the one Green Sales pulled did not have the green TBird sticker...bummer.

I wonder if the studs can be different lengths, just so long as there is enough length for the nut to grab....unfortunately I know nothing of these things.

The 1.5" is correct. Mine are both 1.5" using that measurement that you refer to.
The total length of the piece is 6.5"

My tags (green) say BIRD E7SC - 3289-BA WhatEVER THAT means.....

Wait.......I screwed up. I measured it again. It's exactly ONE INCH from the narrower end of the grey/black boot to the tip of the nut. Okay?
VERY SORRY, Had no reading glasses & couldn't really see too good. Now I can C

The shorter one. Measure from the narrowest end of the discolored soft rubbery thing to the tip of the nut. Should be exactly 1 inch. The nut does not protrude past the sleeve, as it does on your picture of the other one (on the left, looking at the picture.) Maybe mine are BOTH wrong ??? Ummmmmmm.

You got your nice white carpeting ...dirty, you're getting yelled at !

Hah. Thats my "office"...it needs a good cleaning anyways.

The longer one probably just wasn't cut off then. Since you have green tags that mark yours as "TBird"...I think yours are 100% correct.

I will still call Green Sales and ask them to send me another and I will keep whatever 2 are closer and return the other.

Sandy,

That part number prefix means that they are for an '87-'88 T-Bird.
"E7SC" is too new, so although they are probably dimensionally correct, the must be somewhat different since they have a newer part number on them.
That part number sounds like it could be for the '87-'88 Turbo Coupe which used the '87-'93 V8 Mustang spindle with the larger 11" brakes.

I will get some pictures and measurements of the ORIGINAL tie rod ends off of my Cougar XR-7 and compare it with what you guys have.

Brent, if you can take the rubber cap off the part and measure from the edge of the arm to the hole in the bolt, that would be a very good measurement too.

Even with the difference in bolts, I found the hole was closer between the two but 1/8 of an inch off nonetheless.
