Re: 86?
I'm certain my 84, 85,85,88 and 89 all have the same vacuum canister. AC cars would have it. Its pretty hard to see under the hood. I think the vacuum hose routing to it may have changed. My 86 seems to pass through in front of the strut tower. As for the canister, only the mounting screw would be ...

Re: 86?
I did not see anything like this one on my spreadsheet. Most white ones were in CA, had recaros, repainted from blue or spotted by an actiive member recently who would have recognized it. It doe appear to have a plaque on the rear fender.

Re: 86?
Kind of hard to tell if its an 85 or 86. GT dash bezels, no door panel arm rests, no signs of the 3rd brake light, cannot see the engine to see if its a v6. What are the cross braces in the trunk?
My guess is 86 and v6.
There are definitely way too many ASC parts present to be a regular Capri.

Re: Engine bay restoration
Sorry, I just saw this post. So, 85 is a lot different in the engine bay with the carb or CFI. 88 and 89 are closer. My 86 is not low miles and I have not done much with it. I can get some photos on sunday. The asc cars will be the same as any stock mustang hatchback. You just need to know how they ...

Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
The only Ford factory carpet was the floor. The rest was ASC supplied and likely market generic. My 85 has replacement carpet added to the top of the original stuff. Not sure why. It makes disassembly difficult.

Re: Engine bay restoration
Depending on the year, I can supply some decent to nice pictures.
I have 85, 88 and an 89 LX. My 84 and 86 GT are fair. I do not modify very much stuff.
As for OEM parts, they are getting hard to find. I suggest looking up the part number and searching with that. Plug wire holders are available in ...

Re: New owner 86 convertible
So, there is a front relay module in the dash behind the HVAC panel which taps into the rear defrost power lead. Its hard to miss since its a fat wire. I tried tracing out my wiring a while back. I believe my wiring was intact and working at one point. A couple of radios later, not so sure. I tried ...

Re: New owner 86 convertible
Sounds like you have jumped into a lot of work already.
You can find the pull down wiring on the ascmclaren.com site. The wiring is a bit confusing as it taps off the rear defrost wiring with relays up front in the dash and interlocks in the trunk. There is also a switch that piggy backs onto the ...

Re: New owner 86 convertible
I see only 2 black/Gray cars on my informal list.
#195 in FL, 2023 with 43,000 miles and automatic
#427 in NY, 2012 with 68,000 miles and 5 speed. We know the number 427 is not original.
Any of these match your car?
I will add it to the database here.

Carpet replacement in an 85
Does anyone have some insight on carpet replacement? I would assume the carpet was cut in half due to the welded console support. Unfortunately, my rear bin cover was redone years ago by gluing new materials over top the old stuff. This makes removing the console cover risky. My carpet was replace ...

A quick look shows 84-02, 84-04 and 84-21 were sold there.

Re: ASC/McLaren Dealerships List
Not exactly sure why, but a local MCHUGH LINCOLN-MERCURY OF LOS GATOS, INC. sold several early cars. In my data collection, I came across several single digit serial numbers sold by this dealer. I would expect they had an inside connection. Logic would expect the early cars to be sold in MI.
IIRC ...
