Sad sight at a local junk yard, Mclaren Mustang, PICS

Post by red390gt »

It is a sad sight. Looks like it was hit very hard of the passenger side, pushed the passenger floor up about 6 inches.

Dude, grab the WHEELS and the rear tail light covers (if not damaged).

The custom interior pieces (back area) are probably worth a good bit to someone too! Grab the seats, arent't they RECAROS? They can always be recovered!

I have known the owner of this yard for a long time so he usualy gives me good deals. I tried to buy the whole car for
$200 but he said "No, just buy the parts you want and leave the rest". I tried getting a price from him for the misc. interior pieces and the tail lights, He didn't decide on a price and I ran out of time so I had to go. I will try again next week.

Such a sad sight. That gold wheel looks like NEW! Can ya get me the last 6 digits of the VIN? That way I can more or less mark it off......

BTW, your red capri looks great! I looked at all your photos, and it's coming along really nice. Power Antenna Car ?? Yes ??

Offer to bring the shell back when you are done stripping, That has worked for me in the past.

You are lucky the window glass was still intact  . I don't need it but would love to have a spare. Was 84-86 the same as the 87-90?

The yard doesn't want the liability of having somebody trying to clean the VIN and put something like that back on the road. Just strip it in the yard!

Not to mention it looks like the center cap is still on that wheel. Being that those load from inside, I bet they will all be there still.

Thanks for the comments about my Mclaren Capri convertible. I plan to start prepping the body to get resprayed this winter and I am ordering a new top this week. I saw a seller on EBay listing them new for $330 http://aabestco.com/ He is BEST-MAn on ebay. Are his tops any good? If not where should I buy a top, best deal?

I'll get the VIN info off the junked Mclaren Mustang the next time I go back there. If the yard owner is in a good mode maybe I'll get the interior and wheels for a good deal.

Check with HANK on the top. Tell him Sandy sent ya! The company you posted has sold ascMcLaren tops to owners. Some have been satisfied, others not so.

Yes, I'd definately appreciate the VIN

How do I get in touch with Hank? I'm not sure who he is? I am guessing he is the owner of ASCMCLAREN.COM...?
