I don't see scoops...

Looks like an 85 to me...it's got dual tailpipes!!!

Freeze Frame it ! It's got the scoops. When equipped with the "normal" Capri hood, i.e. louvers, they barely show up in a moving pic, but the scoops are much more visable, as in this not too clear & motion video.
Owner might have added dual exhausts -OR- it might be a very early 1985 with duals & the scoops, as is/was the car I located in N.Y. Either way, she has the scoops. Absolutely!!

I went to his blog. It is a 1985. It has $3,000 of upgrades/alterations underneath. I froze pic & enlarged it = SCOOPS ! I was told that 100 pairs of scoops had been ordered, That would indicate that 25 - 1984s and the first 75 - 1985s came with them.

I don't see scoops either but I can't tell much about the car from that poor video.

Would verts get the scoops too? I don't think the first 75 85 COupes got the scoops since that would mean a 50-50 split of the 150 85 Coupes. That means every other 85 asc coupe we see should have scoops....and we haven't seen any other than possibly this car...or what's in the asc literature.

My car is probably in the first 30 built and it didn't have them.

All 1984s got the scoops. I was told (by an employee) of asc that the initial order was 100. Did they actually get 100? I dunno. I assume that IF they ordered 100, they got 100. Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't Maybe they got 100 and only used 25. My pictures of the car I found WITH scoops...THAT car is a 1985, and I have the VIN

I was told they killed the scoops because they held (& kept) water, as they were sloped rearward, that being towards the wipers.
You saw all the parts they tossed out, so maybe they tossed them out.
It was a planned "alteration" for the coupes. NO Capri Vets ever got them !

sandy i know this kid it does not have scoops and about the whole first 75 cars thing if anything i would see the first 25 but the first 75 would leave only 15 blue cars with out scoops and we all know that there are more then 15 coupes on this site with out scoops

Saw the pics. I recall talking to him. He called me, once.....long ago!
Seems like a different car. Picture car has striping, decal on side rear 1/4 window and other stuff, missing from the "movie" car....

i'm shaine, i dont do fourms too well! i finally figured out how to post new topics and all that but here i am. I registerd a while back and called sandy i think oonce and talked to mike m. about his GORGEOUS 86 on cardomain but i quit updating that site. BUT HERE YOU GO! some info

its an 85, i beleive its an early model because it has an 85 mph speedo

i got the car when i was 15 from my cousin that got it from her cousin in KY. the original cusin and MY uncle (my frist cousin's father) rebuilt the car some 7 years ago or so? eventually MY cousin got it, which sold it to me a year later after we picked it up in KY. the car was rebuilt with a 501 290 comp cam (sorry idont know alot of internals of engines yet) and whatever else they did it was a long time ago! i have put on a holly 650 dual pump, edelbrock performer rpm intake, tulips headers, mallory coil and distributor, moroso plugs, holly blue fuel pump, and straight pipes w/ glass packs.

for the answer it has duals, had duals when i got it but one pipe was bent so i had a local put on straight pipes(did a tulips job) and glass packs with the tips.

MOST RECENTLY i put in a centerforce dual friction clutch, 10.5 centerforce flywheel, new u joints, monster tach,hurst comp plus shifter WC-t-5 that an instructor and i built in at UNOH and thats about it! days after i put all this stuff in it, it started to miss fire so i put it up cuz i was broke!

the car is missing near all the body pieces. rear bumper smashed some, no rear valance, only half was there when i got it, it had a HITCH when i got the car, no side skirts, front valance was smashed and i got a new one for it as for a new rear bumper also from the ascmclaren.com guy

it has the tinted rear windows, gray seats with one tear in the driver side, the pooper rims, DOES not have the alpine stereo or radar ..idk basically ask and ill tell you fi t has it!

i was in a wreck and i have a big settlement coming my lier and i think soooo soon the car will be frame up restored but not to original. i personally love the car but not everything about it.
i want to run high 10s, the car will be black but with all the orange striping but in competition orange. i want it to be diferent, plusit was too far hacked when i got it for me to restore it to original (and if it was it would be slow and like everyonelses!)

Hey Shaine,

I sent you a request on Myspace. To bad you didnt save that address for all ASC McLaren owners on Myspace to join. Perhaps we could have used it as another means to get more exposure.

Anyway so glad to see you are commited to your car. It is really a sharp car. What heads are you using and any lower work to the motor? I am in the middle of upgrading mine. Are you happy with your setup? What would you change if anything? Thanks.
