1988 ASC McLaren on Ebay

Post by ASCMCLRN »

Well they say pictures are worth a thousand words, some how people think that translates into dollars. Check out this car, I was hoping to see a cream puff with only 5k miles to talk about but this Pony is missing its shoes among other things.

Dig those high speed casters! And bi-wing spoilers! It could be made into a real decent car it is a shame that what seems like started out as a nice 5k mile car turned it this  Wonder what the story is? Man that kills one sitting outside under a tarp for years  But i guess you can only do what you can do? Sandy how close is this one to you?

I emailed him asking for some pics of interior and top down.

One sec, ok got the flame retardent suit on, I kind of like the bi wing spoiler it reminds me of the very rare Piranha's. Just wish the spoilers were a better match together.

OH MY GAWD!!! IT'S IN WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY !! I FREAKIN' LIVE IN WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY AND HAVE N-E-V-E-R SEEN THIS CAR, NEVER!! IT'S GOTTA BE 105,000 & IT'S PRETTY TRASHED. HOW WOULD ONE EVER GET IT BACK TO BONE STOCK ?? IT'S A CAREER OPPORTUNITY. I'M GONNA TRY & CONTACT WHOMEVER....IT CANNOT BE MORE THAN 3 MILES FROM ME. I WONDER WHERE.....
I AM GONNA RUN THE VIN.

EDIT: VIN 240381 was black on black with charcoal grey interior & originally a 5-speed. Did not have Radar BUT is supposed to be with Recaro Seating !!
It was ordered by & recieved by Stillman-Hoag Ford Inc in Englewood, NJ.

WOOF WOOF. I may go look at it, AFTER getting a Rabies Booster Shot.

Looks like he ruined a nice car. I sent him a message asking a few questions. Why do people do this type of stuff to these type cars, they probably don't know what they have.

Sandy,

Sorry to see you found one of your children. :( You must have been trashed the night you "concieved" this one. LOL ,Best advice, strip it, then use the pallet stack in the picture to creamate it.

Hope all is well out your way & Holidays were good to all. I ran over to Gateway today to visit with my EuroCoupe, can't wait until spring.

Happy Holidays to all....

Jim, I have a friend in VIBURNIM, Missouri, anywhere near you ?

BTW, IMHO that black 88 McLaren is only good for parts.
Aborted engine, No brake system, and God knows what else.
Throwing good money at bad product. I would like to see the
Recaros in it. I'd buy them IF they were in decent shape. Otherwise
it's some kids dream come true, that didn't.

Yea, isn't that strange when a McLaren pops up for sale in your neighborhood and you didn't even know about it.....It happened to me a few months ago with one in Ohio that the guy drove all the way back to Arizona.

Anyway, I can't figure out which car is worse - this one or the '87 #12. It sounds like that one was spared its life and will be fixed by someone who is partial to stangs. Good.

I hope someone scoops this one up to fix. IMO, black on black with gray interior and recaro seats. vs. white with blue top and interior (ho-hum, most common combo) This car has some advantages over the #12, it doesn't seem or look like it has rust problems, but does suffer from "JC Whitney Abortion parts" problems. The wing on the tonneau area made me speechless. Crack cocaine had to be involved. It wouldn't be that bad to get the car a rear axle/differential, 4 whl disc brake kit and a set of mesh rims. The car's structure seems solid.

Ok, I had to look it up, its 1 of 68 and probably a lot more rare due to the REcaros and if its a manual tranny too. This right, Sandy?
