The stolen and recovery part with the title doesn't sound great. Looking at the engine I'm going to say it's 128,000 miles and not 28,000 as represented. I'm tempted though..

Hmmm. Rear speaker hack job and ghetto lean drivers seat. My guess is cracked floor boards as well. Not bad though. We'll see what the price goes to.

Shame! I have THAT car on my Registry, from late 1986, when it was "mint" ~ Canton Car, I used to refer to it....

It very well could be a low mile one but some idiot back in the 90's wrote the miles as 100k more see details...... Some one drove it 100k in less than a year i do not think so! I think the car is a good buy at the 2300!

I do not like this guy...

I asked:

Could you tell me if that is the original engine and transmission in the car? What exactly was wrong with the car after it was stolen to be titled as a junk car? What work was done to the car between 96 and 99 when it was issued a reconstructed title? Is there an MCLAREN COUPE steel tag mounted to the front of the radiator next to the FORD tag? Thank you for your time to answer my questions.

think it is the origional engine and trans there was nothing missing when I got the car in jan 96 the car has been sitting in my garage until may 2002 when my wife to be regestered it so we could drive it on me honeymoon to maine since then I've driven it about 7000 miles and its been in the garage since so if you can explain carfax's ignorance im lisining I dont know where they got all that garbage . all i have done to the car since jan 96 is tires struts cleaned ti up yes the tag is on the radiator support

Me: I dont like the attitude. I'm trying to buy a car and not explain the problems. his stories do not make any sense with any of the documentation.

~ but that's okay, after the first dozen or so, I got used to it, and once 'ya get past that, you can have a new McLaren friend for life, which is more important than a silly argument over whose car is bester

Actually I have seen examples much much, much worse than this particular car appears. My biggest worry would be a cracked floor pan or bent seat frame. All it takes is money thrown at it. People restore cars from the 1930s and win trophies, so ...'ya, it's just all about time and $$$$ and how much of both the buyer has to give.

The killer to me was once upon a time, long, long ago a knowledgable Judge at a GTO show said to me the following:
"You can restore them any number of times, but they are only NEW, once."
I think it was 2 days later, that I put my coupe into storage.
