CB Antenna

Sandy you were in the car biz in 85 right? Could a car any car possibly have left the dealership with a CB antenna mount in the roof of the car as a dealer delivered option. Dealers often subcontracted out to local shops that did aftermarket sunroofs, radios, window tint, rustproofing, and such to give the customer the vehicle they wanted. My 85 coupe 607846 has what I believe to be a CB antenna mount in its roof at the rear centered about 5 inches from the back edge of the roof line. I was 20 in 85 and know CB's were kinda 'in', a close friend back then even had one in his 42,000 mile 70 Mach 1.

From the factory, NO ~ but from a dealer, definately, YES
I do believe that G.M. had a CD installation from an outside vendor with whom they contracted to supply CBs and those did in fact come with a roof mount antenna in a black rubber base. I have no memory regarding CryCo or Ford, but THAT doesn't mean they too didn't have it. I saw it mostly on Chevrolets, like the Malibus of the era. I also saw a few Vegas with them.

So if I can possibly document that the car was initially ordered with a CB that the dealer was to have installed before customer delivery I will not have to 'fix' the hole in the roof to be 100% restored correct?
