ok I got my 85 Vert back from the shop and I am having some fun. I got the top down(I don't remember how exactly) and gave the wife a ride.
Today I decided to license and register the car. It was raining so I tried to put the top up. I am working blind here with no paperwork guidance.
I did ok ...except when I insert the pin into the tonneau and start to lower it with the switch on the door....I get this click and the pin pulls out from the hole.
Just to get around today I left the tonneau "slightly" ajar with the pin intact but something ain't right?
Help?
Thanks

Reading & re-reading exactly what you wrote, the only thng that comes to mind id that you pushed the switch the wrong way. Otherwise, when you push that big fat screw into the hole, you have to do it until you hear a faint "click" - then STOP and push downward on the rear quarter panel switch. At that pont she should pull herself down. NEVER EVER pull it all the way down, as in "nice & tight" ~ always leave enough room to roll a cigarette in there. They break when people hol that button down to long.

Thanks Sandy;
I was guilty of taking it all the down a few times and having it pop back out. I finally maybe did what you described and left a gap between the truck and the tonneau and the pin stayed put.
I hate driving it with the top up anyway but this was the only day I had to get it licensed.
Just a curious note. I have had this car out of the shop since Sat. I have counted at least 8-10 comments from people on the car ...from what is that it is really cool to people that recognized it for what it was. All positive and I like it.
It is a cranky SOB to start and I have a pretty fast idle (1000-1100). If I put on the new and expensive air conditioner it will drag down to 750 or so.
Everything on the car that did not work now does, and just a few nit picky things and it will be a great driver for sure.
