WTB: Blue Door Panels & Driver's Seat Belt
WTB: Blue Door Panels & Driver's Seat Belt
Guys,
The passenger side door panel on my 88 McLaren is too water and "ham-fisted speaker installer" damaged to carry on. Does anyone have a solid set of blue door panels from an LX they'd be willing to part with?
Also, anyone have a blue driver's side convertible seat belt? Mine does not retract all the way, and I'd like to have one to take apart and try to repair before removing the one in my car. Or, if you have a retracting one, all the better.

None of them retract fully. Some kinda klitch prevented it. I've never seen one that retracted fully. Save your time & effort.
Regarding the door panels, you should state must have P/W & P/D/L

Not sure on the 87+ door panels but I think they will be the same as the 83-86 panels. Manual panels will have factory perforated spots in them that can be "punched out" from the back, then a hole made in the vinyl to accomodate power locks and windows.Sandy wrote:None of them retract fully. So, I would think that you don't have to specify power panels.

His car is a Mustang 2-Seat
Vert. with the elongated armrests and the swept upward front section with the Pwr. Wind. & Pwr. Lock Buttons I believe they are unique to the 87-90 McLarens.

Ahhhh I see. So yeah, you need power window door panels so you don't get the window crank hole.
It's a complete reversal of the 83-86 cars because the asc coupes (usually) need MANUAL panels so they don't get the hole for the door locks...and the window switches just cover the spot where the crank hole would go.

Boy, does THAT red one look weird! I am pretty sure I've never seen an example like that! Anyone know what is that little black section, just above where the PW & PDL switchs would have been??
Remember thatPW & PDL were standard equipment on all McLaren Converts from 84 thru 90. (As was A/C)

Sandy, I will get that damn seat belt to retract if it's the last thing I do. There is a TSB out there (89-10, if memory serves) that deals with the problem, but I can't get a copy (if anyone can, please get it for me). I've got a red convertible seat belt for my old 20th anniversary Mustang that I can experiment on.
As for the door panel, yes, I need one from a power window car. And it has to have the black band on top (I think 91-93 blue panels were all blue). Everything else is transferable.

"if you can hold off on the TSB till monday i can get it for you when i go back to school."
If you can, that'd be great. The DVD of TSB's I have go back to the one before this one. For the record, it's TSB 89-10, issued on 5/17/1989. Thank you.
