Thanks Larry, but we couldn't have done that.Larry d wrote:Hey Shelby should have said something, We bought a new KIA Sadona with all the bells and whistles, and I mean everything but a DVD in back for $23K cash and just love it,Had no miles and now with somewhere aound 20 K miles Larry D with the 83 Crimson Cat.
She totalled a '03 windstar LX, and I found a '04 Freestar Limited with every option for her. Its nice, minivans have come along way since the '84 Caravan.

'Ya want it?
Here's what ya do. Go in with a certified check for $ 5,000. Make sure if not used, the bank will allow the $$$ to go back into your account ! Go in and when approached by a salesperson, tell that you want to buy (name the car) and here's a deposit. Tell that you'll pay window sticker, and hand him the check. Soon a manager will appear to explain that they want $8,000 over.....MSRLP. You say, no, that you will pay MSRLP, and not any more. (This is called the "Bread Test") ~ Until then, all you've had is a conversation. Dealers HATE to give back certiee checks made to them. You may just get the car..... Let me know. (And do not raise your offer. If you raise it to $ 8,200 over, you are a dead duck, as it proves thast you WILL raise your offer. (and) NEVER get nasty, always be polite and businesslike.

In most banks, you take it back to the bank and see an officer. You tell them that the check was not used for the intended purpose and the car was not purchased. They will know how to do the rest. However, ALWAYS ask BEFORE the check is made & hammered if the check is not used, can the $$$ be put back into your account and the check shredded.
