I still gotta do 1987, but.....I am stressed out today. Day after tomorrow is a n 8 hour Chemo Treatment, followed by a 44 hour treatment at home.
I will be sick Saturday AM thru next Wednesday, PM It does that to 'ya, about 12 hours after your are disconected. About 125 hours of "I don't feel so good" ~ ~
Weak, don;t want to eat > Dizzy, cannot drive, sleep alot, freezing cold hands, I wear leather gloves to sleep, to help the circulation.
After 8 months of this, I guess I should be used to it all....but, naw, ya never really get used to it - you just deal with it, and try to stay positive & happy.
I do like eating, and I have to eat to gain back some of that 63 pounds, and it's really hard to gain, now. I am at 202 now. I actually gained 5 pounds, which is a really good sign. One cannot gain when Cancer is present, only lose, lose, & lose. I fell 65 pounds in 1 month, November of 2007. I was eating cookies, cake, pizza, mashed potatoes, French fries, and Burger King Whoppers, and losing weight. DUH, sumpim' must be wrong.......
Within the next week, after that revalation, I had an $18,000.00 - 3 hour surgery, and was diagnosed - My Dr. really freaked, as when he told me what I had, and how severe it was ..... I fainted & almost feel against his chest. He helped me into a chair and took care of me right there.
I told my wife, on the way home, (this last November) that I wanted to die. 'Ya, a really low spot in life. Anyone's Life.
I am waaaaaay past that, now.

I was one of the rare folks who gained weight during chemo. Twenty pounds. I was always tired, so I would get home from work, lay on the couch like a slug eating non-stop for four hours since doing so made my stomach feel better, and then go to bed early.

I cannot comprehend HOW you could work, during chemo?!! After the infusion, I am okay for about 20 hours, and then %&#@ hits the fan with a wallop and I am sick, REALLY sick, for 4 to 6 days. (Each time different).
Mental confusion, tired, freezing cold fingers & hands, dizzy and thirsty.

I would receive a treatment on Friday afternoons, which gave me the weekend to rest. By Monday, I would be extremely fatigued, but could make it through the day. The rest of that first week after a treatment would be rough, but doable. The anti-nausea drugs that they gave me did a good job, and the other side effects (loss of hair, tingly fingers and toes, a couple of lost toenails, damaged sense of taste) were more annoying than anything else, so the biggest problem was fatigue.
During the second week after the treatment, I would feel pretty good. Then on the Friday of that second week, there would be another treatment the process would repeat itself.
I noticed that the side-effects became progressively worse, and by the end of the seven months, I had had enough. It was a good thing that I was done, because I don't know how much longer I could have put up with it.
As for work, I needed to make a living, so I didn't have much of a choice in the matter. I certainly did sleep a lot more than normal, though. In the end, I was proud that I maintained my lifelong streak of never having failed to show up for work due to illness of any kind.

Your side effects are very very similiar to mine, but....never once did I even have the slightest desire to barf ! I have taken NO anti-Nausea drugs what-so-ever. I lost no hair. Did you? I was told that mostly it's the females and I witnessed that. I see so many females, from late 20s to late 60s wearing baseball caps and/or head scarfs and you can tell that they are totally bald. Mine is still dark brown, and beginning to thin, on the very top. But to look at me, one what not think of me as bald. Not today, anyway.
I lost 2 toe-nails (the little toes). I had no clue it's from Chemo ~!! I am glad you mentioned that. Do they come back, ever?
Oh boy, that damaged sence of taste rings true. One nite we went to a bakery 'cause I was jumpin' outta my mind mad to have a chocolate eclair.
Fancy bakery, in a really wealthy area and like $ 5.75 for a SMALL eclair and we took it home and I could not eat it. All it tasted like was MUSTARD, that horrid yellow French's yellow mustard. I tossed it. For like a week or so, everything I ate tasted like mustard, EXCEPT salad, so I lived an entire week on salad greens - then the taste buds started wandering back....to me
I also got SEVERE tingly fingers and FREEZING hands, but the toes have stayed normal temps. I have it double in the fingers. They are like Tuning Forks - and I hate that! Still have that, even right now.
and yes, the side effects slllooowwwwlllyyyy get worse. I have mine tomorrow and it's # 11 of 12. Who Hoo.
NEXT week I have a Cat Scan to see where I am. The day AFTER that, I meet with my Dr. I am terrified of what he will say - simply terrified.
Then, the week after that, I have #12.
Been a looooooooooooooooooong haul !!! 8 months to be exact.
When I began, people were talking about their Thanksgiving plans.

I lost probably 2/3 of the hair on my head, but it looked ok because it was very thick initially. I lost all of the hair everywhere else on my body, though. Blecch. The strangest thing was that when it grew back, it was a different shade and was thinner.

'ya, they have said that. Different color and texture. I lost the hair on my legs, but that has been all. Never had alot there to begin with.
The toe nail thing bothers me. Anyhow, I am leaving for # 11 in an hour.
Will be there from 9:30 until 4:30. 5 minutes of taking blood pressure, blood and weight recording. 10 minute interview with my Doctor, and 3 hours & 10 minutes of infusion. All the rest (the OTHER 3 & 1/2 hours) is spent WAITING, because there qare so many ahead of me ! In New Jersey cancer is as common as a cold in January is nationwide.

Good luck.
I forgot to mention that yes, my two lost toenails grew back. Funny thing is that a year or so later, I was moving some furniture while barefoot (good thinking) and tore one of them off all over again.
