Prior to the launch of the 1989(s) there was a BIG push on the part of ascMcLaren. I have the most "stuff" on 1989s. It was the only year that they printed a color chart, and a large sized brochure. They also made up template for dealers to use in printing pictures in the newspapers (I have these) and they also tracked what states were taking the most cars, to target advertising to the other states. They made the sales video many of us have, the ascMcLaren license plates, and tons of stuff at the dealer level never circulated.
After the dismal 247 sales, they kinda threw in the towel. The 1990 "Brochure" was NOT. Just a single color page 8x11.

Although 99 cars of the 1,015 for 1988 were not sold, still that means that 916 were sold. They had hoped with the new body styling (pull ahead Cobra ground effects) and new wheels, interior colors & exterior colors that they could keep the momentium going and do over 1,000 SOLD units. With 247, they pretty much gave up!
