Tom Jones car??

Post by ChuckG »

I was just watching Top Gear reruns (my favorite show) on BBC America.

Tom Jones was a guest in the last season's finale and said he hadn't driven a stick since the sixties.

I'd always heard he owned an '85 Coupe, all of which are alleged to be 5-Speeds. Was that wrong? Was his car a one-off?

His car was a '85 Coupe. I 4-get the color, probably navy. It had to be a stick, but 1985 is long ago! 25 years ago, or put another way... 2 & a half decades ago !!! (NowI made YOU feel really old... )

I will be MIA for most of today. It's another infusion day :puke:
and it's pouring rain, and the walk from the parking lot to the front
door of the hospital is a quarter of a mile. Oddly, I have never before
in the 2 years I been doing this, had to go in the rain - this is a 1st.
(sucks)
But what ya gonna do? So, I'll see 'ya later, but......I'm not gonna be in a good mood !!!

Then he forgot, never drove it, or it was a special-order Auto.

I was 70 when I got mine!! Now 71. Till April anyway.

Might be scarce the next few days. Wife is on a drug trial jury, in Federal Court. She refuses to drive in Tampa so I'm stuck. Although the temptation to let her sit in jail...............

I got my Crimson Cat at 20 and put the McLaren ground effects on it at 21; but my first real asc/McLaren didn't arrive until I was 40. The Cobra, however, came at 35.

Yup 71. Born 4-7-1938. Retired 12 & 1/2 years ago. Still feel young. Hard to realize how ancient I am. People are constantly amazed at my age with such comments as, "You sure don't LOOK 71!" Frankly, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up (Still don't), but I knew I didn't want to be wrinkled. One advantage, I can shave every other day now and nobody notices. So damn much gray.

I bought my COUPE, new, when I was 40. Funny part was from 17 to 39, all I wanted were luxury cars, typically driven by men who were the age that I am now ! I had 1 Caddy de Ville, 1 Lincoln Mark 6 and 4 Imperial LeBarons, between ages 18 & 38. If I am still here, maybe for my 70th B-Day, I'll try a Corvette.
